Okay, here is the big problem with any of these polls: the information is voluntarily submitted. You will never get everyone to take the poll no matter what you try. It's better to glean the statistic you want from the Member Registry files, that is if the birthday stat is correct.

As I recall, there was a major overhaul of the database some years ago, and the Calendar no longer reflects the birth dates of all the members, only those who had registered before the overhaul.

PF

PF,

I'm cool with removing my birthday. Personal information needs to be protected.

A while back during the Credit Crisis I was flush with cash and made a few luxury purchases using a credit card. I paid the balance off right away, and as a result was "A" listed and was mistaken as a powerful and influential person.

In one year I was invited to meet with Mayor Bloomberg 4 times. He is the shortest Billionair I ever met. Unlike the other men who wore three piece suits I wore a Hawian shirt and could of been mistaken as a surfer. I have a photograph of me and Mike Bloomberg on the porch of Gracie Mansion.

Somehow I got a free subscription to Forbes, just in case I wanted to buy an Island or some small country or a private plane. I was invited to join "The Hudson Society" where I could meet heads of state, Prime Ministers, Generals, and meet and socialize with wealthy people.

My worries are that I might be kidnapped, and no one would pay the ransome. LOL.

I know enough that cell phones are not secure, and data breaches and identity theft will only increase. The Internet and clouds are not secure as you think.

I suspect that our real age is in our minds. I'm old, but I feel young.

Cal, you're dead right about data security. The trade in personal data is now a multi million dollar industry.

K,

My boss at a National Lab was a Ham Radio nerd, and one day he played a recording of a cell phone call he intercepted.

Pretty much a married woman and a married man were caught having phone sex by my boss. The guy was "coaching" the woman.

I asked for my boss to play it again because the woman was a screamer.

Most people don'y know or realize that when using a cell phone that you basically are broadcasting and that anyone can intercept your communication. For security reasons I like land lines better.

You can't make this stuff up. LOL.

I'm very pleased with the poll. It makes sense: A sharp increase in members close to, and of, retirement age. More money and more time. Makes sense. I'm just a little surprised that, even though there are two children under seven, there is nobody in the seven to thirteen group! What! NO photographers in that range? I had already had a couple of brownies and an Ansco box camera by then! Anybody remember Ansco, and what it stands for? I do!

Hmmm, retirement in The Netherlands is from 67. It used to be 65, but recently the age is changed. I am a victim of that, I have to work two full years longer than originally planned. I will be 65 next september.

Erik.

I honestly believe that if I remain in the USA, I will work until I die.

I feel the same way, Phil, but my wife is Dutch so we're planning on retiring to the Netherlands because it's a much, much better society to grow old in.

Phil,

My apologies for being a baby-boomer. We kinda got more than our fair share of opportunities and chances for prosperity.

Younger generations are less advantaged.

Recently Saturday Night Live had a funny skit. Perhaps only funny if you are a baby-boomer though. The skit involved a game show that pitted the baby-boomers against younger generations. Obviously the younger generations were the underdogs and the playing field was not level.

Also know that here in the U.S. that you are not alone, and it is said that 2/3rds of Americans can't retire because they have not saved enough or accumulated enough wealth.

Equally as sad only 1/3rd of Americans can afford to retire.

*... it's people!* 😀

With an n of 230, there is still no one in the 7 to 13 age interval, yet two under 7! Surprising!

Surprising, but I think that at that age they are more interested in the Social sites like Instagram than to take part in a forum.

Just my idea...
