Sold all my Leicas and bought back into Minolta SRTs that I started out with. Now I have the dream system that I wanted when I was 17. LOL
Put all that $$$ back in the bank.

Now I am 60 and ready to dust all this stuff off in my retirement. Mucho FUN up ahead! 🙂

If they are not listening they will launch an a la carte SLMOT for the young hipsters to better appreciate the days when photographers had muscles.

(I think you have one?)

D,

You are correct.

I say that with every baby Linhof sold comes a free gym membership.

I can say the same for the Leica SL. The criticism of the 50 Lux being massive and heavy are true. The thing that goes unsaid is the rendering is wonderful. I love this lens. Does not get better than this. Know that I own a Noct-Nikkor and a 50 Lux-R "E60" which are also outstanding.

These three lenses on a CL become 75's or in the case of the Noct-Nikkor and 87/1.2. The sweet spot is perfection on a CL.

BTW my right arm is deformed and is about 1 inch longer than my left. It is also much more muscular. I'm a skinny guy, but my arms are disproportionally big. Also I have an ugly neck that is thick like a football player. Looks odd on a skinny guy.

Much rather have this Baby than an SL-MOT LOL

Dan,

Low blow. I own a SL2-MOT. LOL.

Do you have a 250 exposure reel that can handle 33 feet of film?

I bought this 250 bulk loader from KEH for no money. If you had that Minolta you would need my Topcon loader. I think I paid something like $30.00.

Cal,

I have the Minolta 250 Exposure Bulk Loader I bought from KEH for no money. And about ten SRM 250 exposure cartridges with cases. And I'm looking for a 33 foot reel. Shouldn't be too hard to find. 35mm firepower just like 70mm LOL

Seems like the slacker way to shoot Eastman XX Movie Film.

Dan,

Crazy is good I say.

I can't wait to quit my boring day job. Your darkroom fills me with envey. Call me antisocial, but lock me in a darkroom with a stockpile of paper and chemicals.

Know that I'm a bit of a hoarder like you. I have a darkroom in my public storage. I have those Kodak 3 1/2 gallon hard rubber tanks like you too for dip and dunk.

Not that I'm your "stalker" but I follow your threads and 5222 definately is the slacker's way.

I saw a SS 33 footer on EBAY not too long ago. The seller suggested using a 5 gallon bucket for a dipping tank.

You could balance yourself out by having the SLMOT on one side and the battery pack on the other...an osteopath would surely agree.

A nephew of mine was/is 'something in the city'. Inevitably he had a Porsche. He went to the osteopath.
'Do you have a Porsche? asks the osteopath.
'Yes' says my nephew proudly.
'I won't treat your back until you get rid of that damn thing' came the reply.

D,

My friend John calls my cameras "Monsters." On a M-body I like using Tom Abramson Rapidgrips and Rapidwiders. I don't mind the weight, and in fact they are like carrying a weapon in plain sight: part dagger, part blackjack, and part brass knuckles. If I had to defend myself I know what to do.

For me sniper rifles are heavy for a reason, and a heavy camera is a steady camera.

Also I guess I kinda look a bit like a monster with my deformities. My tailor says a one inch difference in arm length is a lot.

PTP,

Agreed. Leica is a luxury item.

Use to be just a Nikon SLR film shooter. Only bought into used Leica when I turned 50.

When I look around (I am in my twenties, finished university 2-3 years ago, have a daughter) I don't see anyone shooting film who can't afford a m2/3 with a 3rd party lens. And most of them have one. If not, they have another epensive film camera. I bought my M6 when I was 20…

Also, keep in mind that cameras which where more affordable 10 years. You pay more than 600 € for most good medium format cameras (or a Contax T2/3) now which is what you get a working M2 with a cheap CV or Elmar for.

Costs aren't the answer for the relatively high avarage age here. It's the nature of the forum, instagram is more accessible, faster, all friends are there. They don't see more value in communicating here.

Edit: And to be honest: Everything around the pure nature of interesting communication here is just a pain. The vBulletin board looks like 2005, it's not a joy to write here, especially on mobile devices.

Just curious: You were not an English major, I perceive? 😀
I can't be sure, but was it your point to say you don't think much of our forum? 🙂

oh, please excuse me if i have expressed myself incorrectly or unclearly. i am usually on the go when i am active here and don't have the time to read my posts again before sending them... i don't know exactly what equivalence the us major has in germany, so i can't really give you an answer. i have spent quite a lot of time in school and university and english is the primary foreign language over here. i have certainly communicated most of my life in german, sorry for that! but hey, i consume most media in english. at my work english is spoken, but it's a startup in berlin, so that's nothing special and i get along very well. 🙂

regarding the forum: i find it very interesting here. otherwise i wouldn't be here, would i?
