New in box fed 5 light leak

I bought a package deal off of eBay for 2 fed 5 cameras, one was "new" in the box wrapped in plastic and the other was just in really nice cosmetic shape. Well over July forth I tested out the "new" camera with lightly expired Fuji 100 film, and every other photo had this light streak. The unstreaked photos looked really good so I doubt it was an issue with the expired film. I'm thinking maybe it has something to do with when I wind the camera the curtain has a gap....or maybe not what do you guys think? It's only a very quick leak so yeah, my guess would be the shutter curtain being slow/fast/whatever. Do you know what shutter speed you used on the bad/good shots?

It was a really sunny day and I left the speed on 125 and changed the aperture in the shade. I guess I should have worked though the speeds to see if they all did that.

As usual, if you want to find out where leak is, you must look at the negative. Not at the scan without sprockets.

In that position, the likely suspect is a curtain gap. I had a very similar issue with a Zorki 6 once. If so, the leak will fully be inside the frame, not in the sprocket area.

Do you notice any difference between frames shot one right after the other, and frames shot with longer intervals between them?

Open the back and look at the film gate from the back, against a strong light, while you wind slowly. And note the curtain gap position against the light leak in the negs.

Hi,

Not so much a curtain gap to me but a variation in the speed the blind is travelling at, probably because the camera has not been used for a very long time and needs the lubrication sorted out.

It could be 20, 30 or 40 years old and that's a long time to be stored and a lot can happen due to temperature fluctuations and so on.
