I don't know if you guys remember a thread I posted in August last year, about how my M3 had been declared nothing but a paperweight by one renowned Leica technician. In case you don't, HERE is the reminder.

Now, following your advice, I sent the camera to Don Goldberg after an e-mail consultation... and it's repairable! 🙂 He sent me an estimate and it won't cost me as much as I feared.

Funny... I learned it about three days ago... and I'm really thrilled to bits! My M3 is coming back to life!

Not to speak badly of Sherry. My 50 collapsible 'cron came back to life thanks to her. 😉

Don hasn't replied about how long it'll take him to repair the camera, but at least I know it's coming back to photographing again!

Just wanted to share this with you, guys! 🙂 There's a happy ending to start the year.

This is great Francisco. Once it's back, I predict it will never leave you.

As Marc James Small wrote:

"But, ..., I may still revel in the finest of this ... gear,
secure in its quality, and contented, as only a classicist may be,
in the smug knowledge that, in some things, at least,
they really did do things better in those days of old!"

🙂 🙂

Roland.

I guess those whose cameras fail at some point should remember that there's always hope. And it looks even better when the price-tag doesn't even reach $200. 🙂 Thanks, Roland!
