There are new Leica copies around, better, prettier and off course more "perfect leica copy" than ever 😀 🙂

is the fed 5b now better? 🙂

Nice paint job, but the Fed 5b is clunky no matter what name you put on it. I don't understand why anyone would go to so much trouble to make a "Leica copy" that could never pass for a Leica.

Well lets consider that my old Fed-2A , or my Canon P (should say, late Canon P), someone couldn't tell it was either, and just asked if it was a Leica. Theres going to be plenty of people who don't know better, but they are not usually photographer types.

You show that one above to someone who hasn't had a rangefinder before, nor seen or would have recognized a FSU body, they might think it was a Leica too (I mean why would someone wana 'copy' an old camera right?)

That is beautiful, in its own way. I'd consider buying it just for the chutzpa value -- assuming it works and costs less than $60.

Has anyone ever considered relabeling a leica as a Fed? Perhaps to discourage thieves? "No, it's not a M7! It's a Fed-7! I paid $40 plus another $40 for shipping from Ukraine! Honest!" 😀

I would think that theives out in the field might not notice a difference other than 'does it look like I can sell it?' the best detterant other than not flashing it around is to put some duct tape on it, either on the handle, or on the underside, or something, they won't want to touch it. Course now days a 500$-800$ digital camera appears to be worth more than someone walking around with a M6 and a Summicron to the typical eye.

The new digital M9. Finally, Leica succumbed to the wishes of many film M users, to get rid of that LCD screen and get back to old-fashioned photography where the image can only be seen after much additional hard work.
