If you want a fast and Compact 50mm, the Canon 50mm F1.5 looks to be about this size. It fits into the M3's ever-ready case, with its Walz Vented Hood Mounted on the lens. Can't do that with my Summicron!

WOW i assume this is an old Canon model? I have not run across it....

It is Canon's first "super-speed" lens, their Sonnar entry in LTM. It is much shorter than the Nikkor 5cm F1.4. I use it on a Leica CL where it fits into the pouch case designed for the camera with 40mm F2 Summicron-C.

You can see a shot of it in this thread, compared with some other LTM lenses.
