New LOMO MC-A

It's nice that they came up with another 35mm camera, but I'm getting more and more interested in the Lomo LC-A 120 ... Seems to me that it has some interesting capability with 6x6 format, fully auto exposure, and a very-wide lens, in a compact form factor design. I might have to give one a try.

... Or a Sprocket Rocket ... 😉

Playing with mine and suspecting it to have some sort of averaging metering. Definitely not center weighted (like most in the class had) as the result is susceptible to change by presence of light source/shadow spot anywhere in the frame.

Got 41 frames out of my first roll of Fomapan. They definitely had thought the digital frame counter through.

The film chamber, curiously, uses zero foam to seal the light except around the window.

The very short advance stroke/small gear ratio might be the culprit causing the occasional uneven/overlapping frames.
I noticed the lack of foam seals, too. Considering Japanese compacts were loaded with them, this is a very welcome change.

Regarding the advance, on a couple occasions I felt the rewind disk move under my finger. Again, I had no overlaps or anything drastic, a few frames 'kissed'.
Next time I will be more careful about loading it and finger placement and see if that helps.

I doubt it will tear out sprockets, even though the advance lever itself is made out of metal, the drums are plastic. You would have to really hammer the advance.

To highlight the sharpness a bit better here's 100% crops from the center (L) and one corner near the negative edge (R). One for close range and the other for a distant (inf) subject. Aperture was f/4 for both I believe. You can find both shots in the previous post.

Kind of funny to see a lomo lens, on a compact, no less, deliver this kind of performance.
