Wow! Wild character out of that lens. I like it. The old-timey construction I find less endearing though- imagining actually using this lens (or the 85mm Petzval), I see rack-and-pinion focus and Waterhouse stops as more of a novelty and hindrance than a "feature".
I'm happy for them though- they blew right past their funding goal!

The stops are a pita, but the focus is easy to use, but a bit delicate.
"Bokeh Like a Boss" ... oh boy.

Love or hate Lomography, one thing for sure is no-one else supports film photography the way they do.

I know "doughnut ring" bokeh is considered bad in out of focus highlights. What about "swirling down the toilet" bokeh?
This isn't a Petzval, and swirl isn't the signature of a Petzval design. But they sell well to hipsters.

I was also going to bring up the Helios 44...
I'm not going to knock this lens. Pretty neat, even if it isn't my game...the price point is pretty reasonable considering it's something being made from the ground up in relatively small quantities. Personally, I'll stick to $30 projection Petzvals (or pretzels, as I like to call them) on 4x5 speed graphics.

I Kickstarted the 85mm model, but I really didn't like it much and sold it. This one looks a bit more interesting so I went ahead and pre-ordered one at the discounted price. Why not? I can always resell it like the last if it's not for me. I like the shorter FL anyway.

Doesn't Camerquest already sell this?

No, read the Kickstarter.

Ya, it's a 58mm f1.9 instead of a 85mm f2.2
Other then that, what's really the need here why is Lomography using kickstarter?

It creates excitement, it allows them to determine demand, it helps fund the project. Lomography really is a community unlike any other in the photo world with a huge fan base. This adds to that community feel and spirit.
They blew through the fund raising target almost immediately so obviously they have an enthusiastic audience.

They've added some sort of bokeh adjustment ring. It's all there in the video. Kickstarter is now a viable preordering platform for manufacturers to gauge interest. No surprise there.
