New Low for Leica

I took this to mean separate Playboy and Hello kitty editions.
Nope, it's Hello Kitty as a playboy bunny. That went unexpected.
 
This camera seems to be specially made to compete in the annual February NYC Meet-Ups we dedicate to gear that we have had over the past 5 years. The first camera competition started out as a joke, but what was so entertaining is how rowdy and brutal the event was as it unfolded. After that "first annual M-Body Beauty Pagent" this ritual celebration grew bigger and more inclusive every year. This past February our competition was called "a Camera Parade." Last year it was called "Gearfest 2013."

If this camera made it to the meet-up it surely would of won this year's grand prize: a Leitz Tilt-All tripod that I found on Broadway near the Leica Gallery here in NYC.

Perhaps Leica monitors this forum and used the NYC Meet-Up as a focus group to do their market research.

I've heard that Araki has some on order. This is not low but a bit perverted and very much suited to the japanese market love it. Plenty of Playboy bunny ears are getting sold and the same amount of Hello Kitty stuff the buyers are usually not male but adult female who find both cute. Leica's new target audience Araki and women who like bunnies and kitties. Go leica

As long as it keeps them in business and they can make great cameras like the MM I couldn't care less. Rock on I say. I would never buy one of those Hello Kitty or not.
 
What's the big deal? Different markets, different tastes, different products. Or do some people think the only model for our world is Coca-Cola™ ?

I think the Hello Kitty model looks really cool, and I know a lot of people that would love to have one.
 
I rather like it. If it were 1/10 of the price I might conceivably buy it for amusement value. At 1% I certainly would.

Actually, my girlfriend will want one and expect me, the "Leica" guy to pay for it... Fortunately, she does not read equipment-related news :D
 
Whats the matter with making a kinda drab camera a little more fun..
Fun is good..
My computer blew up last week..so well.. I'm going to get the old boring standby..a Dell inspiron..
But my wife says..just get the one you really like..you know the one with the lil alien head on front..and where you can change the colors of the lights on the sides and interior..as well as the aliens head..
So what do I do..spend a grand more for the Alienware..
And you know what..it actually makes life better..you would not believe how much it changes the boring computing experience..
I wish Leica would do more freeky stuff..
Like a micro 4/3...with an rangefinder accurate for my Noct..a little smaller like M6 size...and with fully articulated screen and nice video..
They can make it any color or theme they like..I'm a buyin..
