New M8 Firmware (2.0) !!!!!!!

I am a happy camper - can't wait to try out the High ISO - I mean, I enjoyed the previous High ISO only because I would convert to B&W but now... hmm.. this adds an extra dimension to the M8 that I previously shied away from :D

not all Canon software updates are difficult - I updated the firmware for my 40D in about 3 minutes. Must be a lot different for the 1Ds III.
 
This simple upgrade may actually push me over the edge to get an M8.0. It's worth infinitely more than the (relatively) useless physical upgrade of the M8.2. If only Leica would do this on a regular basis with the M8, they'd have many more happy customers.

I've just updated my M8 with firmware 2.0. At first I saw very little difference in the high ISO shots, however that was on the cameras screen. Since downloading to my computer I do think it looks better.

I'll upload an ISO 2500 shot ( sorry, but its of one of my cats!) along with a 100% crop. I'd be interested to see what others think.
 
What parameters can you set up for the auto-ISO. My Nikon's allow setting the highest and lowest ISO, along with at what shutter speed the camera adjusts up/down the ISO. Also, which ISO's come up: full stops, intermediate ISO's?
 
The only thing what makes me angry about this upgrade is that I have just purchased 3 SanDisk Extreme III 2GB cards as there was this rebate program on them. I also have 2 Lexar Pro 8GB SDHC card which I thought I could never use in my M8.
Anyone wants those brand new Extreme IIIs? I sell them for $14 each.

I just heard my M8 is heading back from New Jersey with a firmware upgrade, and no real details on any other repairs.

You guys are too quick for me to wait.

One complaint I noted was the lack of compatibility with high capacity high speed cards, the other was that when metering for a slightly darker subject, and dialing down the exposure, my shots looked as if they were shot through a Smurf filter, really robin's egg blue all over. Intermittent possibly.

I hope I got some hardware where necessary for my shipping, handling, and time.

Anyone else send their body back for service?

And now I have to clean my kitchen, or move. ;-)

But seriously, I'm very pleased and I finally have a place to stick all of those 8GB extreme IIIs I bought for the point and shoots I don't use :D. I think I have 5 of them! haha

You own an M8 and are angry about $42 of memory cards that you can use anyway!? :confused::eek::confused:

just did some comparative before and after tests at 640, 1250 and 2500

abolustely no difference at all here i'm afraid


anything beyond 320 is completely unacceptable imo
