Hi all! I just recently purchased a nicely priced mint M8 still with warranty left. Unfortunately, I won't get to use it until early November as I'm away on business. 🙁

In the meantime, I've been researching lenses, as well as any other quirks I should familiarize myself with.

One thing I'm still a bit confused a bit about is the "cyan corners" thing with using IR/UV filters on non-coded lenses. Does this only happen with OOC JPEGs? Or does it affect the DNG file as well?

Thank you in advance!

35mmdelux, thank you for your reply. I am looking into going with a Voigtlander 15mm, as well as a Leica 28 Elmarit. So it looks like I'll need to figure out a way to manually code the 15mm. As for the 28 Elmarit, I was hoping to purchase an older non 6-bit lens to save some money, so I guess I'll have to test it out before purchasing to see if there's any noticeable cyan-corners.

I had the latest Elmarit and still have the earlier Heliar (Screw mount). Both required coding with color shots and UVIR filter, in my opinion.

I suggest you look for the second version of the Heliar, as it is easier to code and it has a filter thread (52mm IIRC). The latest Elmarit is a real winner in terms of size and pairs very nicely with the M. Have a look at it, maybe, if you have the option. The older one is quite a bit larger (just like the latest Summicron 28).

Anyway, have fun with the M8. It's a great camera.

Cheers

Ivo
