New Medalist ll user

One roll of TMY400 was shot, processed, and scanned the same day my Medalist ll arrived. It is on my Facebook page under michael.studiocarter, also I made a video about it and that is on my YouTube channel under studiocarter1.
This is my first rangefinder. Ken Ruth told me to remove a little sliding metal mask from the eyepiece and WOW what a difference that made. Now it can be seen through outdoors.
Scans were done through plastic sleeves so quality could be better, but fantastic enlargements were made. They will go onto my next blog entry on my web site, studiocarter.com
This is a great camera. A good strap is a must have.
An adapter was bought for the flash sync and is on the way.
The camera seems to be a bit rare on ebay. Mine works as is and cost just about $200. Two others sold close to that. So, there are new users out there like me.

The image quality out of the Medalist is second to none from all the examples I've seen - congratulations on your purchase! It's a camera I've wanted to try ever since I learnt about them.

I assume it was converted from 620 to 120? Do you find it very heavy?

The Medalist is quite an attractive option, very solid camera. Too bad they are 620, but I guess that is why they do not fetch very high prices in the market.

I've a Fuji 6x9 so the niche is rather covered for me. Still, it does not make these cameras any less attractive 😀

Michael, I see you're reloading 120 to 620. There are conversions (including DIY on the take-up spool) I believe. Might be worth investigating.

It's comparatively easy on the feed spool, but I haven't seen 'trivial' DIY described for the take-up side. Mind you, it's a couple of years since I was looking at that, so it's time to look around again. It'll be interesting if somebody comes up with a response 😉.

Michael, congratulations. It's a lovely camera. I had Ken Ruth do a full conversion on mine and it was well worth it. Paramountcords.com can do custom sync cords with asa termination. I had a very short one made so I could use the Medalist with wireless flash triggers.

I rather like respooling the film. No problem for me. Now that I've learned how to do it after lots of practice.
A solid strap makes the camera real easy to use.
I can't believe how much detail shows in a portrait taken at the closest distance of 3.5 feet away. I can see the pores on my son's nose! Now how many megapixels would that be?
There is some kind of "type F" adapter that I bought that hasn't arrived yet. I'll need another to crank onto it I think. Thanks for the link.

9x12 enlarged as much as possible using a 35mm lens on a Beseler 23C enlarger from 6x9 on a very overcast day. The full frame image is on my Flickr site and on Facebook. It is very wide shot taken from a mountain on the other side of the Mon river in Pittsburgh.
