Jon Goodman
Well-known
Hi from a new member. I'm Jon Goodman aka Interslice on E-Bay, and I was referred yesterday by a member. This looks like an interesting group. I sell light seal materials & kits worldwide. I'm a long time fan of rangefinders, and I also repair & sell cameras as time allows. From time to time, I wind up with parts cameras or cameras which may be valuable to a person interested in learning about repair and needing a subject. If you ever want to discuss the kits, please feel free to contact me, or I'm happy discuss them here. The materials in them are the highest quality, in all common camera thicknesses and have been produced especially to work in all varieties of cameras. Also, I've written several sets of instructions regarding seal replacement in specific cameras, and I'll gladly e:mail those free (pdf format) to folks using the kit. The list includes: Canonet second series (GIII style), Minolta Hi-Matic F, Minolta Hi-Matic full size, Petri Racer, Olympus XA series (all), and others. Some, like the Yashica Electro 35 series are being re-written/updated, and the newer reports include some basic repair/maintenance tips (rangefinder adj, cleaning of viewfinder, removal of top, etc.). There are also new reports on the drawing board (Aires, Graflex/Kowa, Konica, etc). In addition to the seal kits, I also handle shutter cloth/shutter ribbons, should anybody need any. The cloth is a vulcanized synthetic, but is thinner than most (.0065"). Therefore, it is suitable for Leica/Leica clone models as well as the early Minolta cloth shutter styles, and the ribbons are pure silk.

Thanks, guys! I'm still working to figure out the system here...hope I'm doing it right. You can throw rotten fruit at me if I'm not. I understand, Oscar. That is why I keep a simple Zorki 4 around as a standby. When I'm indecisive, it never lets me down. Plus, nobody tries to steal it.

Hi Jon:
What is the width of your silk ribbon?

Hi, Paul. It is ~3mm wide x .044" thick. I say ~3mm. Ribbon is made in two types...bound edge and cut edge. Cut edge is more exact but not good for camera use. Bound edge tends to vary within tolerances, so it might swing from 2.8mm to 3.2mm. If you'll give me your address, I'll send a small piece for you to see.

Welcome to RFF, Jon!
With you, Rick Oleson, Mike Elek, Brian and several other guys, I'd say we have a rather interesting rangefinder restoration collective here

Welcome Jon
I am glad to see you here on RFF. We've 'talked' before on Classic Repair Forum and after I purchased your seal kit. I've finished re-sealing a Nikon EM and a Canonet QL-17. One can barely tell I've used any of the material from your kit. Many more to do.

Jon you have friends here you don't even know - if you provide a good service it gets around - a member in England recently wanted to know about light seal kits and Interslice was the virtually unanimous recommendation from the members here!
She posted a few days later to say that you had mailed her an instructional PDF file, she had received the materials and had fixed the camera and was really happy. So you're doing OK!

Amazing! Everybody is here. I was wandering around earlier and I saw Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul. Nah, just kidding. It was only Simon. Finding this place has been made today truly interesting, and thanks again for the warm welcome. I'm even willing to overlook the fact I feel like the guy who always gets picked last for the basketball team. Oh, wait a minute...I was that guy. Never mind.
Thanks also for the compliments on the kits and the many referrals. More projects are on the launching pad, but they're taking more time than I thought. Or than I hoped.
This site is very impressive. Excellent work!

Hi Jon,
Seems like we have a celebrity in the midst. A business question for you. Is your eBay auction work a hobby or is this what you do full time? It's just kind of neat to meet a PowerSeller and get their take on doing business on eBay.
Thanks,

And that's probably why I don't have a Nikon SP nor a Leica M3
Again, welcome !

Hi, Jon! I know you too. Two weeks ago (or thereabouts) bought a seal kit from you (bacsa666 on ebay/paypal). The Canonet and the Hi-Matic 9 had a delayed christmas.
And before, you sold me a Yashica GSN too. My avatar pic here on the left is made with the GSN.
In fact, that was my first rangefinder, the GSN from you. Never regretted it!
You do know that we have a RF repair "folder" on this forum, right? Your contributions there are more than welcome, of course.
