I was browsing B&H when I saw this:

Currently the companies website is down put the link for the product should be here:

Time to be excited!!!
...though I will most likely not get this do to my dislike of scanning...

Very interesting. I guess all those people hoping for a replacement for the Nikon scanners for their wish.

I hope their CCD scanners turn out to be better than their junky CMOS ones.

Looks interesting. I'll be curious to see some real-world scans from this.

If this scans genuinely well I'd be interested in buying one. It's gotta be better than an epson v700 though - and $1000 better.

Judging by what the Powerslide 3650 sells for at Adorama compared to what it sells for from the Australian retailer, that new 120 will be over $2500.00 here.
It'd want to be good!

Wow ... scanning anything bigger than 6x6 with the provided holder is one frame at a time!

Hmmm.. had been excited about this scanner, but the $2000 price tag has killed any enthusiasm for me. I would rather track down a Coolscan 8000/ 9000 if I had this sort of money to throw around for such a scanner. I guess it will continue to be the flatbed for my medium format negatives..

I am really curios. I really hope that they will realize than until they provide to a few experienced guys a few units for testing they will not sell much. I personally would be interested, but than this scanner should give results comparable to Nikon Coolscan 9000.
The other question is when will this scanner be available in Europe.

I am only interested if the 35mm scans are on par with the Nikon scanners.
For MF i can't fault my Epson v700 in any way.

Come on guys. Nikons are discontinued. It's nice to have a live manufacturer with support and spare parts and stuff.
If their scans are similar to Nikons and Minoltas, then 2000 is a reasonable price, especially if it includes all film holders

Interesting, but for me, as a V700 owner, it's a little expensive. Not saying it's not worth the money, it may well be, but for me, it's a lot of green.

Let's start by asking - has anyone any experience with ANY of the currently available scanners from that manufacturer?
Because if they suck, or if they're good, then we can speculate on this one....

The same scanner will be sold in europe as Reflecta MF5000. The price of it, will be around €1400,-
I have a reflecta RPS 7200 scanner. And it works for me, but the automatic film feed could be better.

Nice to see someone picking up Nikon's slack! Too bad about the price tag though, if it would have been closer to $1500 I'd be all over it after selling my Coolscan IVED.

My guess is that it uses the same ccd sensor as in my Epson F3200 scanner which does 135 strips of six, 6x18 and 4x5. The quality out of my scanner is not very good due I think to the pastic anti newton film holders which show patterning from the anti newton surface in the scanned images. Price of my epson when it was new a few years ago was approx £600.
For some reason epson didn't release the F3200 in the US and some other countries. I think it used the same ccd as in the old flatbed 3200 scanner. But if you can get your hands on an F3200 then they are good for quick scans for the web and occasional print.
So what I think will be critical about this new scanner is the film holders which can trash a scan if they are cheap plastic AN holders. Glass would be superior in every way.
