I'm not often in the mood for it, but I do love this film. Strange, strange stuff--the bleeding transitions are a thing to behold. These were with the G2 and 45mm Planar.
John: What are the other characteristics of this film (ISO, pan chromatic etc.)? For what subjects do you prefer it? Can you explain more about the bleeding transitions?
Tom A knows a lot about it--he's the one who introduced me. It's an ISO6 BW neg film by Fuji originally designed for document copying. It is absurdly high contrast and has a distinctive, slide-film-like transition between black and white when faced with strong highlights. I took Tom's advice and shoot it at ISO20, then dev with Rodinal 1:200 stand for two hours with no agitation (except at the beginning). You can buy it (sometimes) from Japan Exposures.
I have heard a rumor that Fuji has discontinued it!!!! Typical, when you find a film that is really fun and a bit idiosynchratic - they stop making it.
Check with Dirk @ Japanexposures - he might still have some left.
Too dark here to use it at the moment - waiting for summer.
Tom
Damn. I still have 2 and half. The other half I tried ate iso 25 and 100 but forgotten that it was supose to be 1:200 and so I did 1:100 one hour stand! Come out completly dark (the negs). After scaning, I only saw a white neg... Got to try again!
I heard the same thing, that Fuji has stopped it. I believe it was on their website somewhere. I live in Japan, and none of my local camera shops sell it anymore 🙁
