New MS Optical 50 1.0 lens

Interesting speed lens, no doubt.

At f 1 the image it makes can looks as glowy as the original Summarit shot at f1.5

Has anyone seen a review of this lens or sample shots besides the JCH review? I’m intrigued by the speed and size. Very expensive for a character lens though.

Really bad CA until f/2. Perhaps good for effect, but I can do that with a $200 Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 AF-D lens wide-open if I want that effect. Size is admittedly pretty amazing. I would like to see images on film and not digital.

I love how there's no real weight or size penalty, because those were my biggest gripes when I owned the 50/1 Noctilux. The soft glow at larger apertures might be perfect for head shots of anyone who has reached or passed adolescence: Everyone can be a supermodel!

I have a Sonnetar. Pretty decent lens and can manipulate CA, sometimes improving. Not interested in another Miyazaki pass at a 50. Would like to take a whack at the tiny 28.

the photos on JCH are pretty weird, i saw some shots on insta or flickr that looks a lot better at f1, without any glow...
the size makes me want to try one😎

The 7artisan 50mm f1.1 is very good at max aperture. And it’s cheap.

I agree, the Nokton or 7A 1.1 are great lenses at that price point.

The form factor that draws me to the MS 1.0 is the size/weight. This is a lens I could park on my M3 and carry it around all day.
