NEW MS-Optics Apoqualia-G 28/2

Mr. Miyazaki's notes on the upcoming Perar 17/4.5 and Aporis 135/2.4:

The Perar is a 4/4 retrofocus (!) type while the Aporis is an Ernostar.

The Aporis will come at 148,000 yen with an optional 1.8x teleconverter (128,000 yen for a non-coupled version with dual spherical aberration & coma adjustment levers). Not exactly cheap but the fluorite-enhanced performance looks superb. Leica's current 135/3.4 ASPH APO-Telyt-M retails for $3795 at B&H...

Thanks for the correction, it should be a magnifier!

No worries. I figured it must be an eyepiece magnifier rather than a tele-converter as it makes more sense (at least to me).

The fully manual adjustments for SA and coma optimization on the non rangefinder coupled 135/2.4 version are a very interesting addition, and something that I don't think has ever been done before. Will be interesting to see how these adjustments can be used to create different imaging affects.

I'm always very excited for Miyazaki-San's designs. Not that I buy them. I've always had GAS for the Sonnetar 1.1 (and may end up trying one out.) but this 28/2 would already be in my bag if I had a Leica w/ 28 Framelines. The compactness would be lost a little bit if I had to use an optional finder. ):

Nevertheless I very much encourage his Craft. Truly wonderful.

This is the first I've heard of these 2 additions. Might I enquire where you found out about this?

Hmmmm...it seems to front focus?

You mean my test ? Thanks for looking 🙂

Yes, front focusing about 3cm at 0.8m, wide open.

Note, however, that (1) at a total DOF of 9cm at 0.8m this is still acceptable to me, (2) MiyazakiSan writes in the spec that RF doesn't couple below 0.9m, but my copy does, and finally (3) focus shift puts the focus dead center into the DOF window at f2.8; which I like.

Roland.

The filter size is 28 mm, as given in his pamphlet that comes with the lens. I've been trying to find one in-store in Sydney but nowhere I've tried stocks one, so I'll have to order online. I think it's worth getting one to protect the front element. The hood is pretty shallow.

Got mine from Fotopia over ebay. Great service. Beautiful lens. Subsequently, got a 28 mm filter from B and H. Taking it for a stroll this afternoon. Fall colors in Central Park.
