NEW Nikon DSLR Distoration Software Updates

According to Nikon USA, it doesn't change or improve the on/off auto distortion control for the camera, all it does is fix a glitch for certain camera serial # lots where this feature could not be enabled. If your camera already allows you to use this feature, the firmware upgrade will not change anything. OTOH, if your camera is supposed to have this feature but you cannot turn it on, the firmware upgrade fixes it.
 
This is not about fixing anything. It is a part of the camera's firmware that holds distortion control data about Nikon lenses and applies the corrections to the in-camera processed photos and to the JPG preview embedded in RAW. This version includes data for the following lenses:

AF-S NIKKOR 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5G ED
AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/4G ED VR
AF-S NIKKOR 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR
AF-S NIKKOR 800mm f/5.6E FL ED VR
