New Orleans in the Rain - M9P with 21mm

Where to go Next?

Since I'm originally from New Orleans, and thereby like the rain, I was curious to see your photos of the city in the rain. But when I followed that link, I found only one photo of wet pavement, which I assume is in front of the cathedral. I assume that you took more than one photo in New Orleans in the rain, but I don't see how to get to other photos for this theme or topic.

It would be nice if you would put the photo here, in the message thread so that we can see it without having to go to your site. In case you don't know how to do that, when writing a message click on the icon for inserting an image and give it the full address for the image, not the web page. Here's your photo on your site and how it would look:

If you want me to remove that image from my post, send me a private message and I'll remove it. I haven't copied it or downloaded it. I just linked this message to it so you can see how this feature works.

It would also be nice if when you start a topic like this, if you had a question (e.g., 'how do you like my photo?', or 'how can I improve?'), or if you would encourage others to post their photos on the same topic (e.g., 'show me your photos of New Orleans in the rain').

I hope I don't sound like a jerk. It's just that I've looked at threads that you've started before and was disappointed to see a link to your site that presented only one photo. So I thought I'd give these two suggestions to improve your posts and so that more of your work will be viewed and enjoyed by others.

Russell, Chris has a couple N. O. images on his website - follow the link in his signature, and you will see them. I don't think he was asking for "how can I improve" or "show me similar pictures" kinds of responses. It seemed more like a brag, or perhaps even promotion of his wedding business. This IS a very well crafted monochrome image, and shows how this unique camera can be used in commercial work, such as wedding, etc. The inverted view ROCKS!

Thanks for posting a link to the picture itself.

Chris, posting a link like this does NOT encourage discussion, so I'd be inclined to allow Russell's pointer to your picture. I often follow picture links back to their websites (especially when a link is given with the image), but rarely follow lone links. I never know what is waiting at the unknown url.

Thanks everyone for the comments.

Well I post on Mondays on my blog and call it Monochrome Monday. I only post one photo on Monday, not a series. This image is from a recent wedding and I will post more images once the wedding is edited and delivered to a client.

On posting images in the forum instead of just a link. Well, I've tried it before and it never works - look at my previous posts and you'll see. I post a link, if you don't want to click on the link then don't, it's really that simple. I post images on my blog, yes I'm a professional photographer, no I'm not attempting to promote my business on RFF. Ok I will say I have had a few inquiries because of RFF but I won't go on here and say "oh check out my wedding biz".

Chris,
Great image!
Good to see you around. Back down in the big easy I see.
I always look forward to your work. Even though I really can't stand weddings, I love your photos.

He does it for the clicks to his website which helps drive website traffic and internet searches. I used to think he was just daft because in one post everyone kept trying to explain how to post an image and he said he couldn't figure it out. But nope, he's not inept or lazy. He just wants the clicks. And apparently there's nothing wrong with that on this forum. Because he's been doing it for a long time. In fact if you look at his post history it's all he does. I don't even bother trying to fix it anymore if it doesn't break forum rules, which it does on every other forum out there. In fact I should start just doing it myself. I could use the web traffic to improve my search results.

If I really wanted website traffic for a wedding image I would post it on wedding websites instead of RFF.

Excellent tips, even for an old timer. Thanks -

PS: I have family living in the Garden District. Loved my trips to NO.
