New owner of a Crown Graphic

I like the Super Graphic quite a lot. I bought one a couple of years ago, and was surprised to find that the batteries were still good, and that the electric shutter release still worked.

I came across a new Toyo Super Graphic still in the box, but am still trying to figure out if I want to pay the asking price for it.

For the moment I am using a Technika III with a Mamiya 100/2.8 and a 6x9 back, or a Polaroid PA145 back, the lens won't cover a full 4x5. It's an interesting combo, and it works well.

I have Crown Graphics - both 4X5 and a miniature 2 1/4 X 3 1/4. And also a Busch Pressman (my primary 4X5)

I've had a Crown for 3 years or so, but have only used it about 10-12 times. Really is a different experience. I love the quality of it. Like getting into a time machine.

It's funny: the epson V700 comes with 4x5 holders and this is what got me to try it all out.

My first Graphic was a Speed, then I got a Crown Special, with the Schnieder-Kreuznach Xenar 4.7/135 in a Copal #0. That was a sweet camera. Never got to use it much. Sigh...

What isn't working?

The shutter is a standard lens shutter.

The RF might be interesting to look into. That "tube of balls and disks" intrigues me. Don't know what the RF optics looks like, only have seen manual repair guide photos.

The focus rack looks basic to clean up.

Graphic addiction

Graphic addiction

Hi, group... my name is Dave and I am a Graflex addict... it started in my youth when I was.... exposed..... to a pacemaker. I kept it secret from my wife and only occasionally fondled it. I worked at a "camera store" that sold "equipment" and "supplies" they had 35mm but I wanted big....BIG NEGATIVES. then the day came that an old, sad man came in to "trade" his "used equipment" for a Nikon F3.... he was picky about his stuff, so much so that he identified the new color scheme for AIS lenses before we even knew about them ourselves. He traded a never used MIB Argus C3 ( we laughed...) a mint baby Super Ikonta, a barely used Super Ikonta BX and a Virgin Pacemaker Speed Graphic. .. it could turn a young man's head.
The manager refused to sell it to me, my wife was expecting our second child and he ]knew it would be the end of me.

I quit the store, drifted for a few years, went to medical school. Became specialized in rare diseases. Always wondered what the difference a Speed Graphic would have made. A few weeis ago I answered an "ad" on the "List"... I dont trust the "List" any more than I trust the "Bay". It's the "Forums" for me, and even then, look what happened to Julius Caesar... But I bit, whaddaya know I have a Speed Graphic, pacemaker, side rangefinder, at a good price. Then he calls me back: howsabout a crown graphic, nice, at a good price. Then it was a Crown Special with the Xenar and a Graflok back (the springs, THE SPRINGS) Next its gonna be an RB series D. Just like Lange and Bourke-White... they had class and chutzpah and enormous negatives. I dont want to stop f-stop. I am an addict and I can't help myself

Adapter for Flash for under $2.00
I use for my old lens

This is one way to make a Adapter for flash guns cost less than $2.00 with tax from Walmart note all parts can come from a Dollar Store too.
The old flash guns use a 120v plug with new ones use a Mini Mono Phone Plug I use a old cord and a plug from Walmart and less than 10 min I had the adapter I need.
