Loading the film may seem a little confusing at first.Once you get the back off [ turn the two lock catches and the whole back comes off] you will see the spool that the film winds on to.This spool slides off and has a spring loaded clip with a hook on it.Now you can fiddle with this and do it correctly, or do what i do.Just tape the film end on.Put the film cannister in and make sure film is flat and the teeth on spocket are aligned with holes in film.
Back on and wind the film on - press the shutter release ,do this 2-3 times and now is time to look for something to take a photo of. I have a Fed 4, very similar and although these are considered the ugly duckings of FSU they produce very good results.Just dont drop it on your foot.

Bought a film ISO 200 as advised. (Actually bought some double pack, was cheaper.) I think I can cope with loading the film but the current question is - should I adjust the counter before doing it? Since I was playing with my camera with no film in it, it just shows some random number now. When I load the film and press the shutter 2-3 times it is not gonna show '1'. Does it matter?

Kiddo: I've long suffered from anxiety, panic disorder, and depression, myself. I think most photographers would say that they indeed find photography therapeutic, as would anyone who practices any sort of craft.

I'm not familiar with the FED 3, but I do have a FED 2. If your camera has a rotating counter that you can turn with your fingers, load and advance the first working frame, then turn the counter to 0.

If the camera has the counter number in a little window, as in most modern SLRs, closing the camera back will automatically reset the counter. You can even practice this without film in the camera.

Thanks for your help, pakeha and Terry.
I did not know I can rotate the counter after loading the film. After 15 minutes or so, I finally loaded it. First time ain't easy.
Guess it is time to figure out all these exposure times and other settings etc. Wish me luck🙂
