New Pana m4/3 fixed-lens with optical VF

Jsrockit. I seem to have read a quote of the man responsible for the M line at Leica.

is the best i could find. Clearly 4/3 is being denied, but they also said a FF RF would not be possible and kept silent.

Exciting times. I still shoot film with an M6 (I tried an M8 but did not like the feel of it). My little Canon S90 is however giving me digital joy and convenience, but I miss shallow dof, so if this would be the slightly pocketable mini Digilux 2 with 4/3 sensor I would be very happy.
 
Well, a camera with eithe m4/3 or APS-C chip with a reasonably fast 25-75 lens could be all I would ever need from a take-it-everywhere digital camera. Optical viewfinder that would zoom like the one in Contax G2 would be great, though it should also show the focus.

I am only wondering whether making the zoom lens fixed to the body will bring any advantage in size (OR speed - f/3.5 - f/5.6 is a joke) if not, than it makes little sense. I guess nobody would glue their 14-45 lens to their m4/3 body.
 
I'd be interested in it if the max aperture on the zoom lens was something like a fixed f/2. If it's one of those f/3.5-f/5.6 arrangements, it wouldn't be of any use to me.
 
Vince, same here. Am afraid we will not be satisfied. Assuming Leica designs the lens we have two older lenses we can look at. The lens on the X1 which is 2.8 (for a larger sensor) and the lens on the Digilux 2 which is 2.0-2.4 .

Crossing my fingers for latter.

I just hope the Digilux 3 is not a misunderstanding and that they actually mean Dlux 3.

Will try to be strong and keep my money in my pocket till Photokina, it looks like there are some exciting announcements to be expected.
