New Pentax DSLR!

I really, really want to see some ISO 1600 and 3200 images, though./QUOTE]

me too. as I am sporting a k10d I think this has enough muscle to make me happy for a while, but a really nice 1600 would be greatly appreciated.

Check it out: the K-7 compared in size to all its major competitors. AWESOME.

The compact size is nice... wonder how it will balance with an FA 31 mounted....

Now for the price to come down a bit and I'll consider upgrading from the K10D.

After selling off my K20 and the bulk of my lenses to fund my rangefinder GAS, I'm left with a K100... now to decide whether to get the K-7 or the Nokton 50/1.1! haha... but based on the reports at Pentax forums, the DA*s focus speed is significantly improved! decisions, decisions...

31mm ltd on a crop camera is a 46mm lens, doesn't do anything for me, maybe the pancake wider lenses but the camera looks good for those with small hands or with the optional grip for us normal sized adults.

I hope the medium format camera has a near ff sensor or all those nice Pentax wides with be wasted. Also, it would be nice if the prices were closer to the FF high end 35mm dslr's.

Yeah, it essentially becomes a very expensive version of the FA 43mm. Still, as far as digital goes, this is what Pentax has given us. Personally I'm pretty comfortable with the normal field of view provided, but I can see how one coul be frustrated as the only way to get the full-frame field of view equivalent of the FA 31mm is with the DA 21mm.... which is significantly slower.

Of course, you can sell the farm and pick up the 24mm Lux... on the M8, it gives you the same approximate FOV as the FA 31mm does on film, and is half a stop faster.

Well, well...maybe that f/1.0 wasn't a glitch after all...

...although this has got to be a fake, right? Is f/1.0 even possible on a K mount?

It's hard to tell from the image, but that looks more like 1.8 to me.

I'm not in a position to be buying a new DSLR, and I barely even use my K100, but this is a pretty great looking camera so far. It'll be a nice step up in two years when it's worth a dime.

So, can I get a K20 for $500 yet?

(This looks like a great camera, but with the current economy, I'm buying N-1 versions of technology until I get my income back to 2005 levels...)

When the K-7 comes out, you can have mine for $500. I have a musical item I don't use and that I can sell along with the K20 to get the money together...The K20 is great but this camera has all the stuff I wish that one did! I will wait for the first real reviews though...

Been following the K7 release with great interest. I waited 2.5 generations (and in the meantime got into rangefinders), and now it appears the long wait is over. My *ist DS will now be my backup DSLR.
