Australia/New Zealand New Photography Show Airs Abc Thursday Night

I agree Chris. Too rushed. Very unsettling of the audience. Looked very heavily edited too. Interesting though. I've never seen tethered studio shooting before. I'll watch next week.

I think so, too. I love his passion for backing Australian jobs and how he puts his money where his mouth is. But I actually had no idea he was related to Harold Cazneux, until he mentioned it. The photo he brought with him that was taken by his grandfather was one of the most interesting parts of the show.

Chris, I agree regarding the winning portrait too. I would not have chosen it. I thought the shot of Vince Colossimo had the most interesting lighting of the three and that it was the most engaging, too.

One more vote for Dick Smith, I mean for what he said about film. I also preferred Vince Colossimo's portrait, though personally I'd like it better without the prop. Vince is interesting enough himself. Overall the show was better than I'd hoped, given that I don't normally enjoy reality TV (or TV in general). That Hassy sure is a monster, it must've been intimidating to use it with zero experience.
 
Yeh. I don't know. I watched it, got some good tips, but the contestants were really annoying, especially that lady who kept freaking out. The only one that had a slight idea was the chick that did the mirror portrait. It's not the same three contestants is it in the next episode?

Second episode I enjoyed. The three participants were given a couple of hours to make a good landscape photo on wet and windy/snowy Mt Wellington, above Hobart in Tasmania. I would have loved to shoot there - the last time I visited there was a 50 knot wind blowing and photography was a little difficult!

I thought the "winner" was lucky to crack it with a very good landscape as her approach seemed very haphazard. The others were more in control but perhaps their preconceived ideas locked them into looking for images they were familiar and comfortable with.

Next week - a wedding shoot! That would terrify me. :)

A wedding shoot!!! ... the mind boggles at the potentail stress involved in that for a newbee under the spotlight! :eek:

Should be right up there with 'Big Brother!' :D
 
i like it!
very interesting the way all 3 saw things differently.
the show itself is very civilized and educational...not like north american reality tv at all.
but then i can't see this show being popular here...
 
I reckon reality TV is the scourge of the world but this show at least is doing it with something with some meaning.

Cooking shows, renovations, talent shows, weight loss etc .... blah blah blah!

They generally repulse me!
