RFF is no longer a Pleasure for me
Be it in Navigating this 'New World' , silly quirks in the new system,
or just me being set in my ways

Thanks for all the Years of Fun, Friendship , Photos and Gear !
Cheers and Best to ALL ~
I am sorry to see you leave us here, Helen. I am starting to get used to the new RFF. It is a matter of getting used to new habits
Why don't you give it all another week or two to be really sure you must leave us?

Hello Raid,
When You really start to think about your Life, Time, what is really of Value to you... lots of things fall away
I don't know why but the 'vibe' here is no longer Special for me.
Things once so easily at your finger tips are now more time consuming to find... sometimes exhausting, sometimes aggravating, sometimes oh to hell with it
Perhaps my consciousness is just in a different head, a different point of view... It's a radically 'different' World we are in , on so many different levels
I would rather not just 'disappear' , many people here do and it always leaves You to wonder.
Perhaps time for new creative endeavours, new Worlds to Conquer
Best to part gracefully, and with Good Cheer !!!

Helen - Having been thru a number of format changes on other sites, I suggest you give it some more time too. It's not always easy but in the long run I think the changes here will enhance the experience even more.
I for one have enjoyed your postings.

ha, Thank YOU, 'alwaysonauto'
It's more my 'thoughts' on the Internet in general than up & downs of the new site
Perhaps I no longer feel the need to share, to post
and I regret to say I have said too many things about 'Me'
I should have not shared publicly...
In a World so filled with exhibitionism, the need for 'likes', a Cancel Culture World telling Us how to think and Be, I no longer want to leave a trail. Less on the internet, dis engaging from the way the World wants You to be
To Mystery and being Mysterious !

Something Helen mentioned I think sort of conflates with a technical issue I mentioned in a prior comment with posting on the new gallery format, but I didn't articulate as well as she did above to the issue of "likes" (and "views"). I think it would indeed be a positive here to get rid of "views" and "likes" on gallery photos altogether.

Helen I hear ya!
I've been far less active, both here and online in general, as it just doesn't have the appeal to me that it did maybe 10-15 years ago.
I started dropping in again when I caught wind that there was gonna be a major format change, and quite honestly, I liked the old one better, but I'm not the decision maker here. I'm willing to give it a shot, but I doubt if I will again be as active as I once was.
See ya on the "7"!

My best to you Helen. So sad to see you go. So talented a photographer and bright presence here on RFF. I will miss your thoughts and imagery. Please take care of yourself. Maybe pop in once and awhile to say "Hello"?
Peace to you...

Helen, you will be missed. You have contributed a mountain of knowledge and wisdom to these forums and your absence will create a big hole.
I've been struggling with the new format but I'm sorta getting used to it. I just lurked in the background for a while until I felt slightly more comfortable and then started posting again. Hope you do that as well rather than leaving totally.

I have a few thoughts on all this ....
First of all, thanks to all that have been members and contributed so much to the community.
I hear in many places that being not as involved on forums, not just rff but other sites as well is more common. Many are gravitating to social media platforms ( which i despise ) to share and do what they once did on dedicated sites like rff and others.
Liking the old site vs the new site it all comes down to what one is use to. Eventually when everything gets ironed out and the site becomes the norm, it will be as familiar to you as the old one was. Its like switching from apple to andorid or other technology. You are use to and are comfortable with one tech then there is a learning curve with the other. But, after the learning curve, it becomes the norm.
As far as RFF goes, when I started this site many eons ago, it was meant for the RF shooter and has grown to a size way beyond my expectations. Stephen ahs done a great job keeping this going and what makes RFF unique is that unlike many other photo sites, this was created specifically for the kind of photographers we are. RF shooters. Having said that, its the best place on the net to discuss and share thoughts on rangefinder cameras. Yes, it has expanded to cover other formats. But, still when you want to discuss RF this is the place.
Slowly but surely I am fixing some issues. There are many features on this new software that i have not even attempted to implement yet due to added complexity.
Thee gallery accounts will eventually use the rff accounts so a single sign on is all you will need. However, I have many things on my plate and this will be delayed a few more weeks.
Anyway, that's it for now.

JT,
Thanks for all the hard work!
While the first experiences with the new site in actual use (vs taking a look-see at it in prototype) proved a little rough for a day or three, it's come along quickly and proves quite comfortable in use now, at least for everything I've done here since the changeover. I'm sure that its still a juvenile moment for it and it has a bit of growing and maturing to come.
I feel as you do about the move to the social media platforms. They do not replace sites like RFF for me at all.

Helen, I would hate to see you go, but if that's what you want to do none of us can stop you. I've enjoyed your photos over the years, plus your enthusiasm for the art. You've been through a lot lately, and I can't blame you for wanting to withdraw. But please know we will always have you in our hearts, and will welcome you back anytime if you wish. We will await your return.

Just wondering where the Edit button went to in the thread posts. I was wanting to correct something the site has a problem with displaying (an ampersand) and couldn't do it. I do hope you bring it back.

There was a setting that removes edit options after 2 minutes. I changed it to 60. So, in theory you should be able to edit your post within a 60 minute window now.

FYI- Tonight I wanted to make a posted image smaller, within the 60 minute window, but saw no option for editing the post. Not sure that feature is working, or maybe I just missed it.

I have been a forum member for almost 20 years, contributing here and there. I just don't understand the need to change the site.
I agree with Helen's sentiments, but more on the technical reasoning for leaving. It's frustrating to use, especially the Classifieds. Why make it so difficult for people? What happened!?!?
I've tried dozens of times to register in Classifieds, but it just doesn't work. I still can't login to that page! Why is that section different? Why does it require separate logins? Why the hideously amateurish design (two different logos, one in all-caps sans serif and the other in a "handwritten" RFF font. Why?) What was wrong with it before?
I'll wait it out and hope it improves, but I may need to migrate to another site.

That's all well and good if one notices a problem within that now 60 minute window. But if a correction is needed later, like after someone points out a mistake one has made in describing something it can't be done. The old site had unlimited edit function time which I used a lot to correct my posts. Now with the way posts disappear from whatever list you are reading them from it makes it harder to track down something you either messed up, or need to include additional information to.

On another front, that Edit button does not appear when one creates a post, so there is in fact no way to edit posts, time limit or no.
