I just came across this:

It looks pretty retro-cool and is small as well. I've got the classic Studio 298 (edit: 398) but something lighter and smaller with larger numerals would be nice. If anyone here is thinking of getting me a Christmas present, here's a hint for you.

looks good. i like that it can 'hold' a reading - wish my little pilot 2 could.

Yes, it does look good. And it uses a silicon photo diode, much better than a CdS cell, which is still offered in some new meters. But it's not particularly sensitive, reading only down to EV3. Still, nice features and decent price!

Thanks for bringing that to our attention. I like the reading angle guide. That's neat. Now I wonder why all reflected light meters don't have it.

Described as A sharp 33°-angle measurement with guide in reflected mode provides decisive means for choosing values to measure in comparison to most economical meters with a wider reflective measuring angle. I guessed from the photo that it is the set of arcs behind the needle.

That is nice. And the price is good.

I should use the CDS meter that came with the Polaroid 180 with my RF "meterless" cameras. Although it uses CDS, it uses a BIG CDS cell. I still use my Selenium meters; usually a Weston Master II. Remember, a good selenium lasts forever.

I've been using the tiny CV clipon meter on my Canonet and Zorki. It's a little jewel and very accurate in all the light I've tried it in. The new CV Meter II is even sleeker and more compact. I don't know what the sensitivity of the CV meters are in really low light.

It is a very sweet little meter. I've had one for about a year and have found it accurate and convenient. It comes with a little plastic accessory shoe fitting but I've never used mine on a camera because it's a little big for that.

Frank, I really don't know. Maybe 25-30. I still haven't unpacked completely from my move. I really don't seek them out but if I come across one at a good price I can't resist. I also do dumb things like buying a GE PR1 just because it has the same shutter speed scale as my Yashica 35. The Sekonic is probably the newest, followed by a Sekonic L-158 and a Gossen Luna Pro. The old ones that I use when I'm shooting are a pair of Weston Masters, A III and a IV, the GE and a Gossen Pilot. The bad news is that I'm like the guy with two watches, I'm never sure what time it is.

i bought the little gossen pilot 2 from rob for use with the 'p' and so far it seems to work just fine for my needs.

but

i've started to think maybe i need a better meter.

please lord, do not infect me with yet another addiction.

Joe, don't do it! I grab a camera I like and then reach for a meter and I always have to check three or four. And their is always a range of about a stop and it drives me crazy.

I really didn't intend to start collecting but every so often someone would come into the store with something like "I went digital so I don't need this." or "I found this old thing and you can have it." I probably don't have $100 in the whole collection except for those that I've sent to QLM for rebuild.

few things just happen.
