New stuff at Kiev Survival Site

It's been a while since anything new and for good reason. For all you Zeiss 6x6 folder nuts there is something newly added to The Ikonta Korner. Of particular interest to those who dig the Super Ikonta IV, 534/16, with Synchro Compur MX shutter, you'll find a complete overhaul.

OK, ok, I know, it is not Kiev related but coming soon, new Kiev stuff, first I have to get an Oly RC back together and working...

Cheers,

Thank you! Your timing is perfect for me. I have just received a beautiful Super Ikonta BX (533/16) from RFF's own Flinor, and while I haven't nearly the nerves or patience to try the entire teardown (nor does it need it!) your diagrams may well be a lifesaver should I ever get serious about reviving the meter. Where would we all be without your site?

Cool, I'm glad the article has found some favour with at least one person. When I was writing up the article I was wondering just how many people would find use for it. Well, as long as one person finds it useful then it was worth it.

Glad I could help. Coming soon, the older Sychro Compur shutter with the booster spring article.

Cheers,

Russ

An excellent piece of technical work, many thanks for sharing your hard won knowledge and experience with us! Your instructions will make future purchases of this and like models less risky, as we can now have a good go at servicing them.

Regards, Dave..

Good news that the site is being worked on.... I am a happy user of a Kiev (Arax) 645, and found the site especially helpful when I was just starting out with the camera. It helped me, also, in selecting a series of lenses from the 16mm to the 180 with the 2x. It's moosey, yes, but a very versatile camera, and still a good buy for MF shooters.
Long may the site rule for those of us who choose to listen and learn.

Russ..I find this highly nerve wracking...guess I'm off to bust another one.*

*some call it busting but I prefer to think of it as building boxes of classic camera parts.

Bust another one you say? Isn't that how we get "parts" cameras? Why, I'm in the middle of making a nice Oly RC parts camera. I'm on the homeward stretch with an Oly RC that I completely took apart. Put the lens back in, place focusing screen/aid on film rail and presto! The image is a mile out at infinity. Only problem, I have no more movement on the helical to bring in infinity. Possible problem or opportunity? Smack it with a hammer and gain a parts camera or sit down a struggle my way through to figuring out what is wrong? I think I'll need to sit down with a beer or two to ponder that fate...

Cheers,

Russ
