The proverbial "other door" just opened and I've agreed to purchase a Summitar lens with perfect glass and coating, along with a screw to M adaptor and a barn-door shade, shipped, for less than $200US. The bonus is that the seller is Canadian so there'll be no duty added to the parcel. I'm a happy guy again.
Frank, that sounds great! Modest price too...
Good deal. I bid on one yesterday that looked like a bargain. If I won it I was going to offer it to you. That was not to be, but it sounds like things worked out for the better in the end.

That sounds WAY better than the other deal even at $600.
Coincidence? I don't think so...

I'm very pleased for you Frank, a summitar with 'perfect' glass and coating is a very rare thing. Don't be disappointed if you find some small imperfections,- not everyone has the same definition of 'perfect'.
The barn-door shade is a nice original item and I'll be interested to know whether you take to it. personally I use a 12585 but the barn-door gives the best results. If the sun is in the rear 180 degrees a summitar is ok unshaded most of the time.
Did you get a green filter ?

Thanks all! The seller is in Vancouver. Contact made through Pnet classifieds. For sure I'll bring it to the Nov.12 RFF meeting. Thanks for thinking of me, Ralph! I have a yellow, dark red, UV, and polarizer filters for Summitar, bought here from Scott. I would still like a yellow-green and green filter.

Frank, I'm happy for you. That's a great price and the leftover funds from your original defunct "deal" should yield a really nice IIIc or even IIIf body...... if you still want one, that is. I look forward to seeing some shots from your new treasure.

The seller just emailed to say he was including 3 filters and a slip-on FSU lens hood. I may end up with some duplicate filters. I think someone was looking for some recently.

Do you mean: included in my deal at no extra charge, (yes) or that I'm giving away duplicate filters for free? (no)
