The proverbial "other door" just opened and I've agreed to purchase a Summitar lens with perfect glass and coating, along with a screw to M adaptor and a barn-door shade, shipped, for less than $200US. The bonus is that the seller is Canadian so there'll be no duty added to the parcel. I'm a happy guy again. 🙂

I'm very pleased for you Frank, a summitar with 'perfect' glass and coating is a very rare thing. Don't be disappointed if you find some small imperfections,- not everyone has the same definition of 'perfect'.

The barn-door shade is a nice original item and I'll be interested to know whether you take to it. personally I use a 12585 but the barn-door gives the best results. If the sun is in the rear 180 degrees a summitar is ok unshaded most of the time.

Did you get a green filter ?

I have a yellow, dark red, UV, and polarizer filters for Summitar, bought here from Scott. I would still like a yellow-green and green filter.

The seller just emailed to say he was including 3 filters and a slip-on FSU lens hood. I may end up with some duplicate filters. I think someone was looking for some recently.
