how these lenses weigh up...

The original Summicron is lighter than even the Ultron??? Gosh, what a lightweight piece of junk it is! IIRC mediocre sharpness too. The replica will smoke it 😀

I got my lens in the mail yesterday. It looks great. One minor quibble, and I'm curious to know if others have experienced this. The first thing that I did when I got the lens was put a filter on it.

What I noticed when I put the filter on was that half of a rotation would be looser than the other half of the rotation, which was sort of tight. Like the threads are not evenly spaced.

I am happy with my lens (#194).

Thank you Lynn for the pics! A beautiful trio of 35mm lenses. I have two of these three lenses. I do not own a CV 35mm lens, but I have a Zeiss 35/2 and Canon ltm 35/1.5 35/1.8, 35/2 and also 35/2.8.

Cograts, Pete.

Congratulations Pete! And Lynn for being there. Next time I’m in Sydney, I’ll have to have a look. It’s quite a bit heavier. I guess that’s about the same amount of difference between the aluminium and brass Leica lenses.

Thrilled to announce LLL V1LC #304 has just landed. Fabulous construction. Another happy camper 😀

Thank you Kevin, it's been a pleasure to deal with you on this

Mine is perfect. I use an old B+W filter that's silver in color. The threads are very progressive and it's easy to make filter snug without feeling like I'm applying too much pressure.

My filter went on just fine. There was some resistance while threading it on, but certainly not too much that made me concerned that there was anything unusual going on.

I noticed some variation between my different Leica and B+W in this "issue." It's not really a problem..I guess it's an observation. Other than this small issue, the lens is wonderfully constructed.

And the filters go on the full way, just with a bit more pressure needed than I'm used to giving.

I put a B+W filter on mine without any grabbing.
However, I found the lens wouldn't mount nicely onto a CL, so I didn't force it, but perfectly to an M9 and MP. Perhaps it's just my CL.
Like Trung Nguyen I also would have preferred the tin container, but I'll takes what I can gets, and the soft case is pretty good, apart from being way oversized.
I repeat: Kevin has done a wonderful job of distributing this lens to so many needy customers. Thank you Kevin.

Another lens arrival to log in. Fake leather rather than metal case. Chinese writing after V1LC. Chrome finish. I was able to get my birthday as the serial number being born on 24 April. Used two of the dreaded fours ;->

Lucky you! Do you remember when you filled out the order form?

Waterlenz, good thing you have a reason for having 4s in your serial number. Interestingly mine is exactly 100 lenses after yours, but we both got ours at the same time, more or less. Mine is black though, while yours is chrome.

My M8 died so using my Nikon Z6 for some quick test shots. Fence shot at f/2 and f/5.6. Early autumn colors shot at f/5.6. I had just stopped raining.

This is most likely due to the lens being new and thus the filter threads still are tight. Whereas a 40-50 year old lens will have had many filters and hoods screwed into it, making those threads more loose.

I've had similar experiences with other new vs old lenses
