[New test photos released] Leica Summicron 35/2 Eight Element copy made in China

I have found one for you on the internet.
I didnt order the brass..didnt want it..but thx anyway..
Huss will be happy..if he ever gets his..but thats probaly just a prototype photo....as they werent able to figure out how to make the brass finish permanent.

Finding the correct finish and testing it seems like it would be the reason for the delay in the brass version of the lens. Paint and chrome finishes are a known commodity. To my thought this is a good sign as Mr. Z is concerned with the longevity of the finished product.

Yes, but another possibility is that few orders were placed for the bronze finish. It would be interesting to find out how many lenses were made in each finish.

I ordered brass, and Kevin said by the time my turn came the finish might be ready; but at this point I'll switch if it will speed the process. On the other hand, I haven't had to fork out any money in advance so it won't kill me to wait. A brass lens would look pretty slick on my M6 Titanium and my black Leica T.

Ashwin, good to see you here! Those pics are simply lovely...new pup? Got my lens (silver) a few weeks ago and couldn't be happier. Hope all is well.

The human beings who made my Summicron Replica is every bit as good as my German made and assembled in Canada Summicron 35/2 Type 1 by the same type of creatures - Humans. In fact, my Summicron Replica is higher contrast than my German designed Summicron. I carry my Summicron permanently on to my M2, and also my 35/2 on my M3.

And just to make a point, I have a tube preamplifier that was made by one man in China. I have British HiFi gear, Roksan Kandy KA 1 Mkiii running two bi-amped Quad 303 Power Amplifiers. The Chinese (simple triode) preamp completly DESTROYS and obliterates the preamp stage of the British made Roksan. Pumping out holographic, rich music on to my power amps, but because it is Chinese, one friend of mine just won't have it, and goes home head down. His loss, I'm afraid.

Be happy and take photos, be happy and enjoy music.

That seems to be exactly what happened. One batch of production brass lenses did reach the hands of buyers in China, but finish issues showed up quickly so LLL went back to the drawing board to perfect the finish, and its still a work in progress. There's some info about all this on Mr. Z's Weibo blog.
