[New test photos released] Leica Summicron 35/2 Eight Element copy made in China

This is a crazy unique lens with flint glass and brass makes it even more unique.
I have lots of chrome and black. How zzzzzzzzz.....

Traditionalists will favor the chrome or black finish. I view the replica lens as being special. It deserves the brass finish.

I recall Kevin saying that the brass finish lens is coated to prevent oxidization. I hope that I understood him correctly.

1st batch is about 500? and all sold ? surprised the interest is that high

I am in for the black one. sounds like this might take a while if the first batch has not been made / completed

Raid, I filled out the order form for black paint, as I thought the brass lens, while being beautiful, might be a bit too flashy and make it hard to be discrete when out and about taking pictures of people I do not know. But, I am still leaning toward the brass lens finish. Hopefully, when the final order is placed there will still be a chance to change my mind; I might very well join you with a brass lens.

My lens will be engraved "TRAVELLER" which I chose as a reminder to myself to get out and take pictures of new places.

Riad you are right. As the maker pays attention to many details, the brass finish lens will also be given a special coating to prevent it from oxidization as much as possible. Their technician team is still working on this.

This is a special price only for the first batch to thank all the early supporters.

Thank you Kevin, Please pass on our appreciation to the maker.

on behalf of my friend - Paze Ng:
Using Summicron 35/2 replica for the first time, I choose Rollei RPX400 for its sound resolution, there is no need to raise sharpness of samples.
Moreover, a better sense of pop effect than modern lens. The replica showcases incredible 3D picture quality, while its small aperture performs so well even in back-light condition.
I find its practicality is close to modern ones. However, due to the replica’s modern bias of contrast, its performance of high-key and low-key lighting in high-contrast context is unsatisfactory.
In the cases of high-contrast conditions, what I suggest to do as post-production work is to dim the brightness, with the aim to soften the high-key area (around LR-50).
There are quite a few pictures need further adjustment, while the rest can be processed directly that are valuable as reference.
To be continued (let’s talk about style in the coming section…)
