I have received my black paint copy 2 month ago.
And have done a little test for BW about original 8 elements(germany) vs replica 8 elements because I want to know how close. I think that many people same as me.

Let’s us make a fun game for guessing which one is replica.
( every pair is independence, and it was random sequence. You need consider of every pair, sample: 1B, 2A, 3A......)
I will post the answer tomorrow.

It isn’t a serious test because haven’t use a tripod, but i think it can for all you guys reference.
Camera: Leica M2 (only change lens) with same aperture and shutter speed setting for every pair shot.
Film: Ilford HP5Plus
Scan: Imacon scanner with same scan setting

Very, very close! It is not obvious which is which to my eye.

I feel that too, the replica's contrast is slight higher than the original and sharpness too.

But I think the other character is very close to original, and I will stick with it more time.🙂

The technician told me that they would probably be able to mass-produce it in early June. For now, you will have to place the order separately. People who will receive the lens in June most likely could combine the lens hood in the shipment together.

I am figuring out what is the best way to do it.

Hope all is well and like others, appreciate all the updates. I am in the 1st batch of orders of the replica lens and ordered the silver lens. I'd like to also order the hood. If the hood would be available in silver, I'd like that color but if only in black color at time of shipping my silver lens, then I'll take a black hood.

In any case, taking care of one's self takes precedence over all else. Stay safe.

Aizan, Joakim, when the lens was announced the initial order list was created from "me too's" on this thread. Those who waited too long did not make it on the initial order list because the priority was not based on who filled the Google order form first.

They already have an order list for the lens, and the people on it will almost certainly have first dibs on hoods. There would be an uproar if people who bought the lens missed out on the hood because they had to "sign back on." If they did it that way, the scalpers would have a field day, and it would be a disaster.

IMO, it only makes sense to throw your name in for a hood now if you have an original 8-element lens and just need a hood for it.
