I wouldn't have thought so. As I understand it any patent on the original design would be well expired by now.

The maker told me the same thing. He said all the patent expired by now.


The only thing he worried is the flint glass that been used in this replica lens. He wants to make this lens at least 99% the same as the original one, so he has to use the flint glass. But flint glass is banned by Europe.

Sorry sir. Currently I can't help you with the tests you want. Because I don't have the lens, but I do ask him to send me one as soon as he starts the pre-production. And I've also told him your request. Wish the test people could send me the pictures you want.

Oh, it would do.

The law is complicated and also varies across territories, but if Leica see this being sold as a Summicron, even with an old design, they'd have a good case for "Passing Off".

I've had great experiences with Chinese lenses with my M's. 7a lenses are great and even the iberit lenses are built to a high standard.
