Comparison of 50s & 60s M3 release button with rigid Cron. Later ones (over 1mil s/n) should not interfere with replica dot I guess. Cannot be sure, still waiting for mine 🙁

 
So I shot a quick roll of film on a walk the dog adventure yesterday, and I'll post some of the pictures as they get loaded up onto Flickr. I don't have any experience with the original 8 element Summicron, I'll leave the comparison to folks like Teddy (Jose) and Raid and others, but the mechanical quality of this replica is extremely high, exceeding my expectations. Certainly in line with the old Leitz lenses of that generation.

SC version on Fomapan 100 (yellow filter) in Clayton F76/Nikon 9000/Vuescan. Shot at f/4 or so. One of the few shots yesterday where there was any type of sun out.

FYI -- That's a police vehicle in the background preparing for food distribution.

SC version (yellow filter) on Fomapan 100 in Clayton F76/Vuescan/Nikon 9000. At f/2, and I may have been inside the MFD or screwed up the focusing, but I like the mood. Bokeh addicts will appreciate.

This will be a very nice tool for B&W film photography. I can see now why the old Summicron has such a following. More to come when they're loaded up.

This is just a brief explanation. Recently I have received a lot of emails asking about the order. Like Jon has mentioned before, aside from this project, I also have a day job that I need to work at. So I am very sorry that I am swamped at this moment. I am afraid that I don't have that energy to reply to each of the emails. And I believe Google generally does not make mistakes. As long as you successfully submit your order in google forms last year before our deadline, I will definitely keep a record here. And I have also backed up the data locally. So I think the situation of accidentally losing orders is minimal. So please just wait patiently for my email.

I hope you won't have any bad feelings if I cannot respond to your email.

Is there news on the Irooa lens hood to share, as I think that looks amazing!

My goodness Steve, you ARE QUICK!!! Glad you're enjoying your lens. I've got to do some developing next week. I've loaded Portra 160 in my M2 and I'm trying that with the Replica. Foma looks great and I like the contrast.
 
Same here, I'm like a third of the way through my roll of Portra 400.

Here's my late M3 with with a late lens release button but an early release guard:

Still a little shocked at the high quality construction of the lens. Total alien in the modern world of mass produced, uniformity of ordinariness. I know folks don't want to hear patience preached by someone who already has it, but it will be well worth the wait.

Believe this shot was pretty close to wide open at minimum focusing distance.
 
I ordered a multi-coated one for a change (I already have the original 8E).
Kevin, I assume these will take a little longer due the extra coating steps involved?
Patiently waiting, no rush.
