[New test photos released] Leica Summicron 35/2 Eight Element copy made in China

Kevin, we appreciate all of the time, work, and energy involved in getting this lens out to the international rangefinder photography community! Your passion and commitment is exemplary. This project will undoubtedly be remembered as a historic milestone in our little corner of the photographic world, on par with the making of Nikon LTM lenses. We're forever grateful that your efforts made it possible for us to be a part of it.

I own a modern Zeiss 35/2 ZM, which is as close to being "perfect" as I can imagine, but I very much like using classic lenses from the past. The replica Cron is very special here, as it is a new lens that is nearly identical to the first version Summicron. The resulting images from both lenses (Cron and replica) look very similar to me.

I hope that all of the orders for RFF members will come through whenever the lenses are ready to be shipped.

Thanks Raid. It is a very exciting project. Kevin Thank you for continuing efforts to bring these lenses to us. I look forward to to using the replica!

I have changed the aperture values that I posted here.

Great job Raid. Now its very clear and easy to compare the images from both lenses. I couldn't agree with you more. The replica is very unique as it's new but closely emulates the original 8 element cron. Exciting project indeed.

This is a characteristic that the original possesses too. I've seen that many times with the original 8 element lens, also here, on Raids pictures. The field of sharpness is curved.

Erik.

I'm noticing field curvature leading to sharp corners on both the replica and the original as well in these recent examples from Raid. It seems a bit more visible with the replica, but I'm wondering if that's just a result of the increased contrast. Regardless, the replica is VERY close to the original, which is an amazing feat.

I focused on the front in each image. I used a solid tripod. I am confident that the posted images have caught the main characteristic of each lens. Yes, it is a successful project .

caution: My statement is not correct. "The auction is for Leica AG, so it is a reliable seller. Price includes an M6 and the 50/1.2 lens."

I read this part below, Erik.
You are right that the seller could have meant to say that the camera comes from Leica.
