[New test photos released] Leica Summicron 35/2 Eight Element copy made in China

I've got a 12504. I've used that one for years on both the 35 and 50 summicrons. I never cared for the square plastic version that started on the V4. Erik, I'll have to have a look at the 12550

The Leica 12585 is the other metal one for summicron 35/50 & Elmar 50. I prefer the 12504 on 35mm

I have a lens hood by Leitz Wetzlar for Summaron 35 and Summicron 50 with bottom half in chrome and top half black.

It looks like this one:

Yes, the IROOA fits too, the ITDOO too, but these hoods do not fit the lens in the reversed position, because the focusing lever is in the way. On the front they do not accept a lens cap. So you have to take them on and off all the time, very annoying. You lose them. I want a hood that stays on the lens on a permanent basis. So they have to accept a lens cap, otherwise the lens gets dirty. The hood/lens cap-problem is serious if you want to use the lens often. If there is no solution you stop using the lens. I know that, because I am into the Leica-M system since 1979.

i have this hood for my 35/2 v4, including hood cap; but in fact i never use the hood cap; too complicated for me

Raid, I've also used the IROOA, but i preferred the 12485,12504 because of the cutouts. I don't like the way way the solid hoods cut into the lower right corner of the viewfinder. Sometimes I carry multiple hoods, & sometimes i carry one 35mm camera and an extra lens and share a hood.

In regards to using hoods on lenses, I was wondering if there was a trick to check if a lens hood will cause any vignetting or not? I'm using a 28mm lens on a Leica M2 film body, and want to try a hood, but not sure if will have any impact. If the hood seems to follow the same angle as the lens angle, would that be a good guide?

I use this hood only for 50mm lenses and not 35mm lenses.😀

Actually there is a solution for IROOA hood. Chinese seller on ebay has this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Front-Cap-f...C-Metal-High-Quality-Black-Color/272461196915

A standard 58mm clip on lens cap fits the 12504 hood perfectly, like this style

I imagine a slightly smaller size would work the same on the other hoods.

Good drawing inside and out (high contrast) due to the single coating of the lens combined with split grade printing (see the window).

Raid, I like to have a clean viewfinder even when i use a 50 so i can see if anything that could intrude into the field of view...when photographing moving or complex subjects...that's why i like the lenshoods with the cutouts. To me that's one of the great beauties of the rangefinder camera. Mazo, thanks for the link. That looks like a great solution.... i'll be getting one.
