[New test photos released] Leica Summicron 35/2 Eight Element copy made in China

I also paid in mid December. I last heard from Kevin on February 9. He said he had my lens and was in the process of testing the final batch of lenses. He noted he was very busy with his business due to the approach of Chinese New Year. I'm crossing fingers that the shipping of the final batch is imminent! I don't mind waiting for Kevin to ensure that the lens meets QC standards. That's preferable to having to return it later.

Still waiting here, too. Kevin said he was busy. I haven't got the chance to pay yet.

I haven't been asked to pay yet either. The last I heard from Kevin was in December when the brass version was cancelled and he asked me to choose a new color. I'm not worried about it because I haven't paid anything yet, but I can understand the concern from those who have paid.

It's probably coming soon..
But there comes a time when the waiting is over..
You either receive the lens you paid for..or you dont..

There are a number of us who paid about 3 months ago (I counted at least four in the last couple of pages). I have not been following this thread super closely, but it seems that 3 months is the longest anyone has had to wait for their lens once they paid.

I'd like to hear from those who took final delivery. Did anyone wait longer than 3 months once they paid?

Bad luck with this final delivery. I guess it's just the timing and Kevin being too busy. When I paid for mine in Aug 2020 it took less than a month to receive the lens.

"Esp since the final shipment of the lenses have been received by Kevin and are just waiting to be sent out.."

Emile, I was led to understand that the personalized engraving was not done until after payment.....

as per the email i received "Now I am starting to confirm your order ( 8-element replica lenses - single coating with flint glass) and collect payment in advance. Therefore I could send your engraving information to the factory manager to put your order in the production queue. "

I also paid in December and gave engraving details then. Kevin did say he has received the last batch so they can't be too far away hopefully 🙂

There's always the dreaded auction site if you're really 'Jonseing' a copy. Seems reasonably plentiful there and Mr Zhou has now created a Safari green version (well, not quite the color match).

I heard that the longest waiting time after payment was a little over 2 mos..
Seems to me..that something may have happened over there to delay this..
Maybe QC was off..and they had to send lenses back and forth..
Maybe Kevin was busy...or something else..
A little surprising though.. that everyone here who placed an order last year..has not been asked to pay yet...
Esp since the final shipment of the lenses have been received by Kevin and are just waiting to be sent out..

I guess the replica is getting the fame now so there would be a huge back ordered for them.
Back to August 2020, I paid mine and got the lens in front of my door after 3 weeks.

So many questions..
Are they actually flint glass?
Was my lens late because it was sent back for a fix..
Is my lens gonna have the evenly spaced f stops or uneven spaced..
What kind of # sequence and font on front..
Is my lens really in the V1 limited edition batch..or just an add on w/misc whatever #'s.
Some folks haven't even been asked for payment yet.. what about them.
It goes on and on.

All good questions Emile.

I can see scores of them are for sale and have been sold on Ebay..
They are pumping them out like hamburgers lol..
One dealer already sold 22 of them..
Basically it looks like they are giving us the wholesale price on them or close..

As a fan of grammar and punctuation I'm curious why you end your sentences with a double period? Example (..). Is this something that everyone does and I'm ignorant of?

All the best,
Mike

P.S. I also notice that a lot of people overuse and incorrectly use the triple period ending to their sentences (ellipsis). I'm no English major, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

In my non-expert opinion, the use of English grammar and punctuation changes over time. These rules are often used to exclude people. Those in the know are in and those who don't are out. Not very different from the use of 'proper' table manners:

I remember official dinners where certain invitees, from countries I will not mention but take a wild guess, would try to use a fish knife to cut meat and drank lemon-flavored water out of hand washing bowls. It didn't make them stupid. They just did not know.

As a father of a teenaged daughter, I've learned that she is using different grammar and punctuation rules depending on which platform she operates on: the Queen's English for school projects and an entirely different language for online use.

Cheers, OtL
