[New test photos released] Leica Summicron 35/2 Eight Element copy made in China

why it has to be locked, i dont get your point.
it's where we discussed all concerns and opinions about this lens.
good or bad, you name it. but nothing wrong with the thread i think.

Said it before but this whole thread is the biggest promotion ploy for LLL, and it has worked well as being one of the longest, most active threads on RFF! I'm surprised and disappointed this thread hasn't been locked.

Guess you got your lens?

Point is a rep from a company started this thread to stir up attention by selling this lens at a modest price before it was officially released. From here its exploded on the internet and now fetching three times the amount in some cases. None of this has benefited RFF like the sponsors who help keep this site up, nor has any sponsor of this site taken money from members, not deliver, and then vanish.

Well I'm glad now that I didn't jump in and buy one as well... It sucks even more that the lenses are out there being sold and it's not a failed kick starter. Fingers crossed that they do ship out at some point...

As soon as you contact paypal and get your money back the lens will probably be sent out. I would just wait it out. I feel similar with having sent my M2 to DAG 6 months ago and not a peep. Thing with my situation is I know DAG will eventually get to it unless he never received it at all. LOL

Wait, Kevin requested people pay via PayPal gift? That should always be a 100% no way. Feel sorry for anyone that paid that way who still hasn't received a lens.

Look, what Kevin's connection or role here has been kept opaque. Don't ever expect answers on that. It was a genius cost-free marketing ploy by LLL, here and at LHSA where samples were sent and favorably reviewed. By doing so, "The Maker", a.k.a, the Mysterious 'Mr Zhou' (sounds like a minor Bond villain from the 60's) managed to bypass the struggles of the Artisan brands getting recognition for their items and selling them for multiples of the TT7 stuff.
For RFFers, it was a calculated gamble from the start, like raffle tickets. Not knowing the source and trusting an Avatar here carried risk even if payment was asked for only after the items 'arrived' from China. Some won, others got burned, the rest nothing at all. Kevin may yet belatedly deliver on his promise, for all you know.
Having done business in East Asia, you quickly learn that dealing with sources in the PRC isn't remotely like dealing with vendors in Taiwan, Singapore, Korea or Hong Kong.
It's the lawless Wild East.
Caveat emptor.

IMHO this thread has been a fantastic advert for this lens. I always thought it strange it was in the 'Leica lens' section of the forums and not the non Leica section.
I hope you guys get the lenses you ordered and you are happy with them. It seems lije a kickstarter project with none of kickstarter failsafes in place.

Don Goldberg bears absolutely no resemblance to the Kevin/LLL fiasco. You can pick up the phone and call him.

I think this mr. Zhou is on Facebook, he goes by the name Changtao Wang there and is actively contacting members in Leica related groups to sell the lenses. Also a new version with detachable M mount (like the convertible Summaron), a 35mm viewfinder, a soon to launch VIT triggerwinder, and more Leica compatible items.

Maybe contact him to ask about Kevin MIA, and let him know there is still a dozen of you guys left out here.

So.....Mr Zhou now going by Mr Wang, is going to tell you where Mr Kevin-Xu (now missing), has gone.

Good luck with that.
