New to Forum ,new to Bessas...Pls help..

Hi,
I am a young (16) RF Fan and new to this gorgeous forum. Hi you all again ( My English is not good at all , sorry )

I am living in Turkey , so i have so little chance to find Bessas here . I m going to get one via my parents friends from USA - BHPhoto.

I want a Bessa R set ( maybe a R3A ) , that includes a 21 mm f/4 , 35 mm f/2.5 (40 mm f/1.4 ) and a 90 mm f/3.5 .

But i am a little worried , that i won't be able to try it before buying. Must i trust CV and BH ? I heard some problems about RF alignment and some others . And some problems about lenses ...

And will be a Bessa R enough for me to shoot as a hobbyist . Is it a trustable camera ( I have a good performer EOS3 set and a Contax IIIa(well working exp-meter) with a 50/1,5 Sonnar attached ), wiil it leave me alone on a trip 🙂 ?
What should i do before buying ? Pay a little more for the Bessa R3A and 40 / 1,4
and a Contax to Leica M adapter on E-Bay for a Zeiss attached to a R3A ?

I am so confused ....

For all the info on Bessa's, click the CameraQuest link in the RFF Sponsors list. Steve Gandy's sight is one of the best all around camera sites on the Net in addtion to being THE place for Bessa info.

You may want to ask your parent's friend to buy from Stephen instead of B&H. He has a combo deal on the R with a 35mm lens that's a steal.

My Bessa R kit includes the 35/2.5 [Cameraquest's deal at $399 for camera and lens] and I have added the 50/1.5 and the 75/2.5.

this has worked out well so far and is much cheaper than the R3a and you won't need the adapters for the lenses.

I would think that getting the 35 and 40 would not get you much [execpt the low light for the 40/1.4]

so if you really want the 40 [which cannot be used on the BessaR screw mount body] then instead of a 35 get a 21 or the non-coupled 25

If you are going to buy a camera from the U.S. or U.K. try any of the sponsers that link to this forum. As a member here I believe we should all be careful to buy from our sponsers when we can.

Be sure you check and get adapters for whatever camera you choose. Check all gear for mount " L39 Screw or M Bayonet mount" and decide whats best for you. I like the R2 better than the R and both of these have been discontinued. Dont forget about the L model for a inexspensive second body and I would reccomend a 35mm or 28mm on a L body with a 75mm or 90mm on a R, R2, R2a, or another 2 body setup would be R3a with a 40mm and a R3a with a 90mm. I would much preffer 2 bodys and 2 lenses compared to 1 body and 3 lenses. Be sure and let us know what you get and good luck.

I too would suggest Stephan Gandy for any purchase associated with Cosina Voigtlanders. His prices and service are excellent. I recently had a question about vignetting and a CV lens. 'Got an answer within a day. Try to get that kind of service anywhere else. 🙂 Good luck and welcome to the forum.
