New to me Nikon s2

Recently someone gave me a Nikon s2 with a 50mm f1.4 and a 35mm f2.5 lens. Also included was the viewfinder for the 35mm lens. The camera looks to be in good shape and works fine . There appears to be a repair in the curtain as it seems to have a small square patch in the center of the curtain. Attached are a couple of pictures from the first roll of film I put through the camera. I am going to enjoy using this fine camera.

Oh - you are on thin ice. I started years ago with a Nikon S and a 35f3.5 that was given to me. At the latest count there are 14 Nikon Rf's and about 30 lenses in that cabinet!!!!!
The S2 is a great intro to Nikon Rf's and your lenses are good, The 50f1.4's can still hold its own against modern lenses and the 35f2.5 rivals the early Summicron 35's.
Beware though when you start reading other posts - like the $3000 21f4 (a bargain) and you think it makes sense!
Desist any other gear for a year - buy lots of film and shoot - then you can start going - Hmm, a S3 would be nice as a second body and the SP has a decent 85 frame - and of course you will need the "legend" the 105f2.5 pretty soon - just to round of the 35/50 package.

The S2 is the best shooter for use with a 50mm lens. I'm sure the person that gave it to you is gratified to see it get used.

Welcome to the Nikon RF world, IMHO the most fun side.

The S2 is a great camera to start with or stay with forever. The classic Nikkors are all rock solid performers. There are several other lenses available new and used. While the 21 going at a bargain price of around $3K USD, there are many that are quite affordable. My old S2 kit was a CV 25 and two Nikkors, a 50/1.4 and a 105/2.5. I’ve added a 35 (now an old Nikkor 1.8) as I’ve switched to a S3. My old S2 is in use now by a friend in Chicago.

For now, stay focused on what you have, learn and enjoy. Keep in mind that if you pick up an old Nikon F and an old 105/2.5 and perhaps a newer 180/2.8 ED or perhaps a 300/4.5 ED-IF and you have a great two camera system that handle the same with the best of both worlds.

Now go out and shoot!

Wise advice! If someone told me that back when I bought my first RFer, a S2, I wouldn't have fallen down that slippery slope to a MP 😉
