I have allways used 35mm film cameras and also digital SLR's so I am new to all that is medium format and rangefinder. I recently purchased a Fuji GA645Zi and haven't even put a roll through it. I have many questions about it's use. If I wanted to use a polarized filter what should I use, circular or linier ? This being an auto focus camera I would think I should use a circular polarizer. I didn't get a manual with the camera so I expect I will be doing a lot of fumbling and experimenting. I read the thread about the problems using the auto focus. That will be of great help.
P.S. I am as new to this forum as I am to rangefinders.

I can and do welcome you to the forums. Sorry I cannot answer your questions about your new Fuji as I don't own one. I have always heard that AF requires circular polarized filters however, so I think you are right about that. I think there are other members who have that camera so someone should be able to come in and help.

D'oh!
Polarizers and range finders are a bit tricky. You can't view through the lens to gauge the effedt. But there are options:

Thanks for the information. I will check it out. I am sure that I will have many more questions as time goes on.
Welcome! I have a GA645 though it's not the zoom lens model like yours. The reason for the polarization problem with AF is bypassed by these cameras because the AF is not through-the-lens, but handled on the body. So the AF is not affected by anything you put on the lens like it would be on an AF SLR.
I've downloaded the manuals in .pdf format for my GS and GA from Fuji's website. Here's a starting point, though I now don't seem to find my way through the maze to the right manual files: http://www.fujifilm.com/JSP/fuji/epartners/Products.jsp?nav=1&parent=235386&product=5010024

Thanks for that information Doug. Given enough time I might have eventually figured that out on my own. Ha! These cameras are so different from SLR's. I am really looking forward to seeing what kind of images I can get out of the camera.
