I'm a little confused by the offering from Impossible project, basically if I want colour film with the "traditional" white edges for an SX-70 type camera, my only choice is the Colour SX70 pack ? That doesn't sound right
New to Polaroid, film suggestions ?

For the SX-70, that is all that the Impossible Project offers currently.
They used to offer the Cool Shade black and white film too but I've seen it on there for a while, you might be able to find some from other sellers.

I only just recently got an SX-70 and found that for new film, TIP is your best best, for everything else, you look for it or luck into it in working condition from someone who stored it cold and kept it safe. And even then it's a crap shoot.
I much prefer shooting with my Land Cameras as the color pack film is readily available for much cheaper, and I have a nice stock pile of BW as well.

IP recently changed their naming scheme. If you want color film with white edges for an SX-70 type of camera, you want to order "color film for SX-70."

Yes, the latest color film for SX-70 cameras is https://shop.the-impossible-project.com/shop/film/sx70/fi_sx70_1_imp_sx70_color_mum ... You can also use film intended for the Polaroid 600 series cameras if you fit a neutral density filter to the SX-70 lens.
I talked with the IP folks just the other day. They told me the new SX-70 Black & White film is coming in soon, and updated Spectra Color and Black & White as well.

IP Color Film for SX-70 is nominally ISO 100. Perfectly safe to fly with ... just use the usual lead-lined film pouch and carry it in your carry-on luggage so it can be hand-inspected if you choose.

I believe that the IP 600 films they also advertise with the PX 70 work without mods in the SX-70. Just require the above mentioned ND filter since the film and the camera are different speeds. I think that all other 600 requires some filing or trimming to make the cassettes fit. I've not tried it honestly but I am curious what is involved.
I do hope their new BW is out soon as I'd like to try it.

I'm curious too, mixed reviews on their website about the filter. The filter is just 3$ so I might give it a shot because the 600 film seems to be amazing from the reviews

The IP color films for 600 and SX-70 are basically identical except for the ISO rating. So if you shoot the 600 film with a neutral density filter in your SX-70, it will look about the same as shooting the SX-70 film. The difference is that there is black and white available for 600, as well as gold, silver, and black frames.
When shooting with the neutral density filter, don't forget to take the filter out before you throw the used pack away! It's easy to do, don't ask me how I know this.

I have an ND filter which clips into the SX-70 lens bezel, rather than over the film gate on the pack. It cost me about $15 for an all glass, multicoated filter.
I've only shot a couple of packs of the IP 600 film (two 600 series Polaroids were given to me last Fall). My impression is that it is, like the Spectra packs, an easier emulsion for them to produce and a bit more consistent than the SX-70 films have been.
With the SX-70, due to the fact that their nominal rating for the films has been ISO 100 and the cameras were designed for a very consistent ISO 80 film, there's always a bit of inconsistency due to just how you set the Lighten/Darken control, which itself seems to be a little variable camera to camera ... at least amongst my three SX-70s.
