Hello all,

I'm a new M3 user, and a total neophyte to photography. Interested in getting together with other rangefinder users who don't mind answering lots of dumb questions. Let me know if anything's going on.

Thanks!

There are several of us in the bay area, actually. Where are you located? RayPA set up a get-together a while ago, and I've occaisionaly hinted that we should have another. Perhaps it's time...

Suggestions?

I went to the Hayward show last week <scratch that...2 weeks ago>. I got a flyer for the SJ show, but I lost it. Do you have the details, Fred. I might be able to make it.

I don't know anything about the Bay area but I just purchased a RF camera from a place called "CAMERA HEAVEN" in San Francisco and I got the impression that the store has a fair stock of older cameras and equipment. They sell on ebay as "cameraitems" and their telephone number is (415)346-5169. I'm sure you can get the location by calling them. They may be worth a visit.

I would join you guys at the photofair (photofair.com, btw), but I am mentoring in the city on Saturdays now...last time, I got to go in early, before the show opened, and got some good deals (I did this as part of our photo club).

Would anyone be up for meeting at a coffeeshop or something in the area? Ray set one up in ...Millbrae?

Thanks, Walker. I'll try to check them out. I don't know of a "brick & mortar" place by that name, but that doesn't mean a thing.

Burlingame, actually, but close...very close. ;) We could do the same place if that's convenient for people.

I'm free most evenings other than Wednesdays (Lost!). I will make it a point to be there this time, unless I'm out of the state or something. I'll bring some prints, random stuff, and good spirit, of course. Any preferences on when?

The best used store I've seen is actually Camera West in Monterey, but their prices are only "okay." They got a lot, though.

Okay, in the interest of keeping this thread visible...I'm going to just propose some days.

The only day that consistently doesn't work for me is Wednesdays, I'm assuming Fridays are bad, and I am too scatter-brained at the beginning of the week so...how about a Thursday?

I'm proposing one of these dates:
2/2
2/9
2/23

I got something I'm planning at work on 2/17, so that preceding day is sub-optimal for me. Ideally, I think a photo outing would be fun down the road, but meeting up at a coffee shop again sounds like it would be a nice, relaxed kind of thing. I forget - were there any issues with the one in Burlingame the first time around?

allan

No issues last time, regarding the location, at least for those that attended. Weeknights aren't too bad for me. I have some flexibility in that regard. However, I'm taking a couple of weeknight classes soon, and I believe they are on Thursday, so if Thursday, the sooner the better for me.

Camera Heaven is on Larkin Street in the Tenderloin.

Weekends are best for me. In the evenings I have three dogs to exercise, and one of them (my model) isn't great with strangers so he's a bad take-along dog.

Allan, it's in the 'otherwise' category (crawling toward another degree).

I could do weekends. If that were the case, a meeting/shoot would be cool. It would be nice to have a place to meet before and after a shoot.
