Don't give up. My first Rapid I bought from a camera store turned out to be a piece of junk when I got it home, and I had to take it back for a refund. The second one was much better (bought in a different store). They are great fun to use, and some of the accessories (such as the flash bracket) give it a unique look.

Not giving up. From appearances the camera does look to be in almost mint condition. The glass falling off the back of the view finder was a oh crap moment though. I thought at first it was a really bad deal; but after holding it on with my finger and looking through it, I could see that it did not impact the view. Later on I taped it in place.
We did get our first snow; but now I will have it looked at by a professional before running any film through it.

The eyepiece appears to be glued (expoxied) to the top cover (according to the repair manual.)
