There are about 3,000 images here: Home - Lee Miller ArchivesW, after seeing your post and viewing the trailer, I went down to my local library. Surprisingly, nothing in their building or associated system. Ordered up several biographies & photo books on inter-library loan.
Extraordinary. Difficult childhood - she was raped at 7 and infected with gonorrhea. Pre-antimicrobials, that was difficult and humiliating to manage. She was a New York fashion model then went to Paris and joined the surrealist movement. She was a photojournalist and saw a lot of close combat during the latter part of the second world war and was present at the liberation of Dachau. She bathed in one of Hitler's abandoned houses. She put the war behind her and had her first and only child at 40, and settled on a farm in Sussex. Reinvented herself as a gourmet cook, but remained troubled by the things she has seen. She died of cancer in 1977, largely forgotten. No major newspaper ran an obituary. A really, really amazing life.

Good precis, Freakscene. I would simply add that I believe her work in the surrealists helped inform and made stronger her photojournalist work.
And as for troubled, we call it today "Post Traumatic Stress Disorder". Hardcore classic case, from 7 onward.
