Can anyone think of a reason NOT to buy a Manfrotto 190XPRO3? I don't care that the carbon fibre is lighter, the 4 section is more compact. I do care that the centre column can be used horizontally.
My current tripod a Benbo is lovely and solid but is indeed like a drunken octopus to manage
All thoughts and suggestions (probably) welcomed.

What do you need it for - a rangefinder? In this case it should be OK. For anything heavier I would go with something more sturdy. If you will be forever young, you can simply buy heavier tripods instead of carbon fiber ones, but in case you plan for aging the carbon ones win.

I've got two 055s. They're good tripods. I don't know how the sidearm arrangement changes things but a lot of large format people use 055s . My 055s handle 5x7 cameras easily.

I use a Manfrotto 3001 with a 3029 3-way head for all my heavy rigs.
And an Induro AB0 Adventure Series for anything under 6lbs.
Any Tripod should be sufficient for a small RF rig.

Rangefinder only - I should have mentioned that. If I get anything heavy the Benbo can probably take my weight
