I just purchased a FED 2 from ebay (seller tuhach located in Russia). This will be my first rangefinder, which I always wanted to have 🙂

I did some (little) research and got an impression that FED 2B is the best option for me. So I got one with an Industar 26m lens. Well, I'm not sure it is a FED 2B, based on its body S/N it looks like that.

I'm glad to join this nice community.

If you have any recommendations, comments or think FED 2B is not the best option, I would really appreciate it.

I'm absolutely new to rangefinders.

you should enjoy the fed2. they're pretty nice, just make sure to wind onto the next shot before changing shutter speed, and run a test roll to check the focus is correct.

Hi Ivan,
I add my welcome.Several months ago I asked similar questions, and had many recommendations from other members for various FSU rangefinders, generally the FED2 received more support than the others.I bought a couple of them and I have found that advice to be truly good, although I don't rule out the probability that I will try other FSU models as well. That seems to happen with most FSU users,it's a risk of the game, but it's fun.
The FED2 and the I26 is an excellent choice, enjoy it first, and then check out others later.
Brian.

Welcome Ivan,
As soon as you can, buy an external viewfinder for the 50mm focal length, a J8 50mm lens, and a 35mm J12 lens with external viewfinder. Then you'll be set.

And, if you wear glasses, put sometihng to prevent grinding the dickens out of them with the viewfinder. I have a variety of FED 2s (several difference colors and models) and have found them consistently quite good. Dave

Hi Ivan,

Welcome to the world of FSU cameras and to RFF. I'm sure you'll enjoy shooting with the Fed 2b. The Fed 2 are my current favorite FSU cameras for using. The I-26 is not bad either 🙂.

Warren

Hi I'm new here as well.

Well I say new, I've been lurking for a while 😀

I have a Kiev 4 and adore it, built really well and great pictures.

Never used a Fed but from what I've heard most FSU cameras are great picture takers.

Thanks for the link and more friendly welcome 🙂 I'm still not used to the not underlined links 🙂

Btw, I saw a link on this website http://www.geocities.com/fzorkis/ to the russian version of the manual, but when I click on it it is unavailable. If anyone has a russian version to share I would be even more happy 😉 Well, I can read English too 🙂
