I just installed a new product on my NEX7 yesterday - it's a ring/guard that makes it much harder to accidentally press the video button. Best $20 I've spent on my NEX!

No association with the manufacturer - just a happy paying customer.

See http://www.rluther.com/ for details.

For less then 20 twenty cents you could have gone to the hardware store and purchased a rubber "o" ring the exact size and spot glued it on!

Check the Luminous-Landscape website for this fix!

For $20 this is probably the right solution for a $1100 camera. I'd be inclined to glue something on, but this seems a lot cleaner and avoids potential damage if you intend to sell the camera later.

Its certainly the way forward rather than waiting for Sony to get their finger out.

Sony are notorious with the non-firmware updates sometimes. I'll be getting one of these for sure. Thanks Ken for the tip! :)

Yep, that works but is kinda ghetto for my tastes.

Of course, the release of this product and my purchasing it will cause Sony to provide a firmware fix in two or three weeks. :bang:

Thanks... Sony Listens Email is a joke. At least this gets the job done. If it were chrome it would be off my list, but it looks like a good solution. I like my NEX-7, but I'm not so sure about buying another Sony camera. I don't like their pseudo customer service. They gave me a run around with the video overheating issue. Totally insincere run around.

This are good times for machinists, being able to somehow fix issues with cameras created by manufacturers. Custom grips, now this...I think it's win-win. Personally I wouldn't swallow "6061 aircraft aluminum hand polished" hook, but I paid $40 to a handy Chinese who sells a tiny bit with wire soldered to it dedicated to keep lens of DP1/DP2 extended all the time (to prevent wear of ribbon cable in lens - notorious issue with this cameras). Some people get job and some get choice.

Mine came in the mail this week and it works really well. It was a bit finicky getting the back cover to peel off but once you do that the installation is trivial.
