New Video

I don't recall ever seeing so much porn for any camera ... ever!

I guess you're right. I think this is due to the thousands of photographers that Leica had disappointed and frustrated by their design and pricing policy.

OTOH, this also is a textbook example of viral marketing. I think the hype and the development of high expectations that we can see here have directly been provocated by FujiFilm - by design.

Call me stupid or a victim of manipulation, I'm still fascinated by this camera.

Will I buy this camera? I'm tempted for sure, and I will certainly take one into my hands once it is on the market, and that's exactly what Fuji's campaign was aimed at achieving. My decision to purchase, however will only be made after I had it in my hands and I have seen seriously viable sample images.

I don't know that Leica has disappointed, but I do agree with you. For the majority of us, buying a new Leica just isn't a possibility, so having an alternative, though not an exact replacement, makes more of us at least marginally interested. We actually can ask those questions, What if? and Maybe I can? if we really want to.

I do remember when an M6 was roughly $1400 - at the time a Konica Hexar was a good proportion of the price, at $800 or so. This time around, the X100 has to represent a more viable alternative.

Except this was yet another video that doesn't show the AF speed. Yeah yeah yeah it's great to have click stops, but can we have something that shows more about how it works than how it looks?
